Lanes of Lymington — Restaurant in New Forest

An excellent restaurant tucked away down a nice lane off the high street. Upmarket but certainly not stuffy feeling.

I could have picked so many dishes from the menu but settled on king scallop & tiger prawns followed by monkfish tail. Both excellent. Chris’ medallions of beef fillet were incredible - would pick this next time. For dessert the frozen peanut butter pie went down a treat. If I have one criticism it’s that the portion sizes were too small, particularly for mains.

Has a wonderful wine list. We had the Bush Vine Pinotage which was outstanding, and the Terres Blanches Sancerre which I’d also recommend.

A lovely quirky restaurant in an old school house. The seating is arranged over a number of small floors so can be quite intimate. It might be difficult for someone in a wheelchair or with limited mobility due to all the steps (there is one down from the entrance). The food is lovely and very well presented. We had an absolutely amazing culinary experience at the lovely Lanes of Lymington. We travel a lot, so we dine out a lot. Food is one the things we struggle with. One of us is vegetarian, the other pescatarian and we both left satisfied. Everything was perfect. The food was hot, delicious and beautifully presented. The service was well paced. Oh, and that gorgeous old church turned restaurant provides a level of ambiance rarely found. If you are in search of a special place, this is it.
