This is a very clean and relaxed resturant and the front if house staff were very welcoming. We were a party of four and were sat at a well laid out table with then high expectations, having looked at previous review and the initial contact. We ordered a bottle of Grenache and we were asked if this was a red or white wine. We also had two white wines, a beautiful wine but served in overly large glasses which made it look as if there was very little wine in the glass so much so we questioned that it was a full measure. The mullet starter was well presented and very tasty however the duck with black pudding was diappointing the duck was a small disc not much bigger than a 10p piece and the black pudding turned out to be the decorative smear on the plate however very tasty. Main course portions were small and veg extra but again tasty. However the beetroot and goat cheese salad was not a salad. It was a disc of pastry, beatroot and bits of cheese as topping along with grilled onion and asparagus. Deserts was very tasty and the biggest portion of the meal. Sorry going back to main meal, this was on cold plate. Over all the service was very slow. The total bill was over £200. A little bit steep considering. Staff could do with training on how to serve at the table as leaning across others but they were all trying and were very pleasant. We will return, maybe in a few months time when they have settled in, as only open 3 weeks, with fingers crossed as Lymington could do with a few more resturants...

Just had a very enjoyable lunch at High Street Kitchen!

Hot smoked salmon and bream for starters, with beurre blanc. Both dishes were delicious, with the bream in particular having a gorgeous crispy tasty skin. Small swirls of deepest black garlic and fresh vibrant wild garlic on the plates added extra visual appeal and a real punch of flavour.

For main course I had 2 perfectly cooked chunky fillets of coley with the smoothest mashed potato I’ve ever had. My partner’s lamb shoulder was melt in the mouth tender with a dark meaty flavour and gravy to die for. The accompaniments made me happy too - I’ve been to too many restaurants where the vegetables are limited to a single sad strand of tendersweet broccoli. Not here - there were plenty of vegetables for us both, carrots and hispi cabbage.

My partner was very happy with his generosity portion of crumble and ice cream for dessert, and there was even cheese for me included in the price.

Well done as well to HSK for providing a great tasting alcohol free beer for me.

This meal was great value, tasted fantastic and neither of us left the restaurant still hungry. I would definitely recommend...

We booked a table for a special occasion for 8.00. When we were given the menu we were told basic items were not available, as they hadn't anticipated how much they might need. Our order, after chasing it up, was finally taken at 8.45. When we asked, after sitting for 45 minutes being ignored, if we could order we were told by the waitress that she would have to find out as there was a delay! Our final course was served just before 10.00, by which time we were tired and past being hungry. The celebration was ruined and two of our guests had a two hour journey home to face after an appallingly long wait for food and service. This is not a restaurant I would either consider using again or recommend. Apart from one waitress the service was offhand. We had to chase up placing our order, our starters and main course and when we finally got the bill it was incorrect charging us for a bottle of wine we didn't have. The food when it came was good but the customer service was atrocious and the manager could not even look one of us in the eye as we left let...

Fantastic lunch spot. The service was spot-on. Attentive but not intrusive. Very warm and welcoming without over-doing it. And the food, oh my. The food was out of this world. The most tender chicken, the dept of flavours on the gravy, the sweetness of the cabbage… just phenomenal! My wife had the steak w/ asparagus and garlic butter and it did not disappoint. The portion size is veery generous and all the garnishes and fixings were delicious. We’ve had worse in proper steakhouses local to us. The fact that only the best local produce is being served and all the love and passion invested really shows. Do yourself a favour and have a look at the wine on offer and ask for advice if you need to. Both great new world and old world options that will cater for everyone. This was a party of 4 that just walked up without booking and the team said yes with a big smile. Thank you all for our great lunch. Memories were made around that table.

So happy that Lymington has this fresh and exciting restaurant. The chef clearly values food taste and texture and all the dishes had layers of flavour. The steak was so completely divine I cannot stop raving about it to friends. The fish was fresh and excellent. A very sensory friendly restaurant as the music was not too loud, the ambience was nice and the restaurant was not bustling. The staff where so sweet ,professional and knowledgeable. The wine was excellent and there various options with different tasting notes which satisfied even for the fussiest. It does not feel like another chain samey restaurant it is nice to know that a place like this is a local option for dining out. My one complaint is that the chips were not very nice and I could not finish them and the side salad could have been more exciting.

We came across this place just walking past and what a fantastic discovery it turned out to be. Although the menu wasn’t as extensive as many restaurants, there was still a good breadth of choice and this was matched by the wine list. The food itself was first class: presentation, flavour and cooked to perfection. We visited on a busy Friday evening and it felt like the staff were rather stretched (5 different people served us) but despite this, it was clear their underlying principles were positive: interactions were warm and genuine. Despite wishing we could have had more attentive service, our lasting memory will be of the most enjoyable dishes we’ve had for some time and we look forward to returning again. (Apologies for the photo - I managed to take it just before my wife dived in with her spoon)
