Green Hut Cafe — Restaurant in Newark and Sherwood

Recently visited last Wednesday on the 2nd bike night meeting of the year. Really nice evening with loads of new faces, great atmosphere and lovely food. Hot and cold drinks and a marvellous ice-cream parlour serving various flavours to suit your taste. Parking both sides of the road and loads of old and new machines to view, include sidecars and trikes depends who turns up on the night. Everyone is friendly and helpful and young and old can mingle and chat, with loads of tables and benches on the grass or in the marquee at the front of the hut. Toilets are round the back and there is afew tables on the inside of the café. Unfortunately some idiot had to spoil things and keep popping wheelies on the road on the front and annoying quite a few who had come for a drink and a quiet chat. The ramifications are unthinkable if he had come off and killed someone and wiped afew bikes out in the process of his rush of blood to the head. Really liked it, but admit wasn't happy with the prices, especially tea and coffee, would like to return, but hate feeling ripped off for hot water and a tea bag, regardless of thats how things are today, I have a choice and it's not to spend that. I do understand there are wages to pay, but reduce the cost 30% and sell 100% more drinks and you'll need a larger till to keep the extra money in!!

Not sure how to reply to the owners return comment, so I'll do it this way. I was sat with five other bikers who each of us had never met before, all drinking tea, but felt the prices were ridiculous also, but clearly not mentioned it, as I have: as for top quality tea bags top quality water and milk E.T.C, I'm a bloody biker gone to a cafe for a cup of tea, not someone who'd thought he'd just ridden to a 5* mitchelin restaurant in Chelsea when I saw the drink menu price list. Very disappointed been many times before and been absolutely beautiful but this time poor, usual lady as host was not there whether that had anything to do with it I don't know but ordered my breakfast about 10am not very busy but waited for breakfast for 15 minutes very unusual when it came not offered sauces salt or pepper old sausages kept warm tomatoes cold one egg hard as nails the other on fine black pudding over done fried bread swimming in fat bacon and mushrooms only ok and hash brown I ordered never even arrived sorry to leave such a bad review but was very disappointed, but will be back for another go must just be...
