Bella Vita — Restaurant in Newark and Sherwood

Below is a timeline of our experience and why we wouldn’t recommend:

[ ] Arrived for a table we booked at 7.30, we were eventually seated at the table at 8.20. [ ] We ordered our starters and mains at arrived at 8.10 (garlic bread and olives) it arrived at 9.10 1 hour after ordering. We had to chase it 3 times. [ ] Between 8.20 and 9.00 from when we were seated at our table, not one member of staff came and spoke to us, we had empty drinks for 15 minutes before walking up to the bar to order some (and chase the starters). [ ] After starters and when our drinks were finished, again nobody was even remotely interested in speaking to us, so once again we went up to the bar and asked them to come to our table and take a drinks order. When they took the order they didn’t clear any of the 6 empty glasses. When they returned with the drinks, they again didn’t take the empty glasses which we had now conveniently grouped and moved to the closest point of the table for the waitress. We sat with them on our table for over an hour. [ ] At 10pm we asked for an update on our main, 2 hours after ordering and 50 mins after finishing our starter. Not once did we get someone to explain the situation. Instead a waiter shouted update from 10 meters away. [ ] W had to ask a further 2 times until it eventually arrived at 10.15, 2 hours 45 mins after our booking time. [ ] The salmon Ravioli contained 3 pieces of ravioli and was cold. The Calzone bread was warm but the meat contents were cold. Both pasta dishes were cold. We asked all 4 to be returned to the kitchen. [ ] When we complained they initially offered us two mains for free (all 4 were back in the kitchen at this point) [ ] When we mentioned why this was unacceptable, and specifically referenced the earlier issue with clearing the empty glasses, they asked who served us. The poor waitress was then dragged over for us to give the feedback directly to her, she was only a young girl! She was being thrown under the bus or we were doing their discipline for them! [ ] We looked into the other half of the restaurant and there were 4 front of house staff, we didn’t see them all night. [ ] We saw 2 other parties complain and walk out too.

We booked a week ago for christmas dinner yesterday after getting told by numerous people that the food and atmosphere was really good so we were very exited for christmas food as we have not been ouf for christmas dinner in a while . When we arrived at 3:30pm we noticed alot of people waiting and the customers at the tables looking tired and deppresed . When we were noticed by the staff they looked fed up and stressed which made us quite nervous about the service . They told us to wait and about 40 minutes later they forgot our drinks so we asked and they were left behind the bar. they kept asking if we were our name that showed that they were not confident at all . Once we were at our table they were not even finished setting it up and had no table cloths or christmas crackers ( decorations) whilst we were waiting they looked to only have 5 staff including the chef helping out which made orders slow . We finally got our starters after 30 minutes even though we pre ordered . The mussels tasted and looked like they were microwaved and the rest of the food was disapointing. We started to get fed ul with the service and our children were hungrg as they didnt like the starters so we left only lost £40 from deposit so atleast it wasnt £200 . We ended up going home and having a bad ending to christmas day but atleast we know not to return . Overall very poor service and quality of the food , and was there for 2 hours only having poor starters and the only christmas thing was the music that was to loud to think! They were just to greedy and shows that it wasnt...

Salmon pasta or caprese gave me severe food poisoning which I had to go to A&E, upon informing the resteraunt of this which I was told by my nurse could have killed an older patient the manager then insulted my partner and made her cry... I have never heard of such unprofessionalism or such apauling service. If you want to live, avoid this place

Response - I couldn't come to the restaraunt to see your invoices as I was quite incredibly Ill and had to get my brother to drive for 3hrs to take me home. I had 1 beer and 1 cocktail at the place, I had toast for breakfast and nothing else that day and I was Ill 1 hour after eating here. Food poisoning symptoms can appear as quickly as 30 minutes after exposure. Please consider it may have also been the preparation and just perhaps remind the kitchen staff to be cautious. We only gave you the facts of our situation to make you aware that it could make other customers unwell. This reaction is far worse than the illness itself and your unprofessionalism has been...
