Lasani — Restaurant in Newark and Sherwood

Wow! What a find. Wish we had found this restaurant a year ago. By far the best Indian restaurant we've been to. Our first visit was for my wifes birthday and it was amazing. The food is another level, the service top notch (Grace the waitress was brilliant as was the manager). So attentive and informative and actually listened to what the diners were saying. The drinks were great too, especially the cocktails, and two for £14 is outstanding value. The extra theatrical touch of the dry ice display on the table topped off the event superbly. Will be going back for our anniversary on Saturday and can't wait. Having eaten in many Indian restaurants all over the country, I can confidently say this is number one. Lasani is an excellent Indian restaurant in the heart of Southwell with a great ambiance and lovely staff. The decor is upmarket and tastefully furnished. We were waited on by Grace who was friendly and attentive, and was happy to chat. The food is another level to other Indian restaurants in the locale; every dish was delicious and the menu was slightly different to other restaurants I have been to - a little more simplified emphasising quality over quantity.

Overall, a wonderful experience and one I would recommend. The only negative if I were to be picky would be the price. It's quite expensive. They have clearly gone for the more upmarket experience, and they certainly deliver, so perhaps the pricetag is justified. Can't blame them for that. Kiran was the member of staff at Lasani who looked after us tonight. She was very helpful, had good knowledge of what was on the menu and made sure everything went smoothly. We tried a delicious appetiser - ( puff balls ) that were unique and full of flavour and we had chicken tikka curry and lamb balti which were superb. We also had a peshwari naan which was delicious. The atmosphere was very nice, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was superb. A lovely place to dine on a Friday night and will definitely return in the future.
