TERRIBLE - lack of advertised facilities and a manager who does not care there is an issue or how this might affect customers.

Attended for a family meal. The establishment knew there was a baby in attendance (high chair in place and when ordering the manager even offered a small plate for the little one which was a nice touch).drinks arrived promptly and were nice. All downhill from here though unfortunately.

Meals came but our daughter needed changing.my wife went to the “baby changing facilities” in the toilet to find there were non there. When she asked where they were the staff informed us that there weren’t any.no alternative option on a chilly December day. No explanation for lack of their presence.

The only option to us then was to change our child in the car in the car park.

When done we proceeded with our meal.beef a little dry but extra gravy was provided when requested (little provided initially).my wife’s lamb was tough. Veg mash and roasties tasty enough.

The waitress apologised but we asked to speak to a manager after we had finished our meals and we were paying.when he came out I asked how long the baby changing facilities had not been in place.he advised that a child that was too heavy had been placed on the unit and it had broken. I pointed out that this did not answer my question and he said this was not relevant. To me if it was as a day or two - ok maybe they had not been able to do anything.after a few days though, the odd sign or when booking and knowing a child is with the party or seeing them on entry (as he had done here) inform the party.nothing of the sort happened or was attempted. The manager seemed to think it was for the parents to check on their facilities before attending.we knew they were supposed to have them, we aren’t sure how we are meant to be kept up to date on their lack of maintenance. It’s something we could not realistically be expected to be aware of.

Looking at some other reviews it appears that others have had similar issues with these facilities around 6 months ago.given the managers refusal to discuss the time they had not been functional I can only assume it is a long standing issue which, from his attitude,I wouldn’t expect would change any time soon.

Wouldn’t advise anyone with a small child needing such facilities to attend.i felt sorry for the staff as they apologised when the person who should have been apologising did not seem to care at all.

The manager needs to reconsider how to deal with matters such as this as his response was disgusting...

Expensive for us Northerners! Even though it's only 30 miles or so south it was certainly more expensive than we are used to for pub food. £12.95 for fish and chips and £14.95 for gammon is certainly top end in my opinion. The food was very good though and I would highly recommend it although we were disappointed to have been served frozen chips at those prices. A good selection of ales, a 5.1% IPA was excellent. Madri lager at £5 a pint is also more than we pay in our area. A friendly landlord who likes his football is always a help. It would have been five stars if it was a tad cheaper. Definitely give it a try, these places need your patronage to survive otherwise we will only be left with Wetherspoon's and Greene Kings. Yet another one of Thatcher's legacies. Sell off the pubs because the breweries have got a monopoly. How well has that...

I do leave positive reviews also, but unfortunately this isn't going to be one. The menus were messy and scruffy, which didn't feel clean or nice, and was in stark contrast to the cost of the burger I selected. The drinks we ordered needed to be ordered again as they were not brought out until after the meal was delivered. The chicken burger, that should have come with 'salad with dressing' was actually a few leaves within the bun. When I queried this they said other diners had asked this previously, but there is no separate salad for this burger. The fries were just normal oven chips (but finished off in a fryer I'm guessingl) so that wasn't worthy of the price either. I wouldn't recommend coming here for a chicken...

Sunday lunch after the races. Nice cut of beef and a shoulder of lamb accompanied by a nicely cooked, albeit skimpy portion of vegetables. Pub was quiet and we were tabled in the front room which wasn't really a restaurant, more of a pub table. There is a restaurant area at the back which looked quite cosy. The beer garden looks great for the summer, and generally the service was tight and pleasant from attentive service staff. Price wasn't too bad either. 3 pots of tea. 3 Sunday dinners. 1 Cauliflower cheese (tiny portion). 1 dessert. £52 Sat next to a log burner in the middle of January. It wasn't lit. 🥶

Absolutes gem fine establishment. Beautiful inside and out with a fine range of beer wines and spirits. Two top range beers cost 10.50, which is excellent in the surroundings. The inside is lovely. i didn't have food, but what I saw looked excellent. The outdoor space was large, very clean, children friendly, and pet friendly. The staff was great very friendly and the landlord was very nice and easy to chat with. I really recommend this. Pub it in a great location and a gem. If you are in the area, definitely check it out. Great music was playing, too, and wasn't too loud 10 out 10 for me

Amazing!! We go to many pubs. Even live next door to one. This has to be the most friendly pub around this entire area. As soon as we walked through the door we were welcomed with open arms. There were 4 adults an 8 year old and a baby and all us us were made to feel like the most important people in the pub. Which wasn't left to just our table but everyone in there was treated the same. I've never been somewhere that my daughter says let's go back again. Now we have found somewhere
