Very popular obviously, since curry is one of our national dishes! We went around half 6, and it was packed with families and some very loud children.
Asked about allergies & intolerances upon arrival, and given a special menu with vegan and gluten free dishes. Throughout the menu, items are marked as vegan anyway.
I'm intolerant to gluten and not concerned about cross-contamination, though they fried our poppadoms in the allergy frier anyway, and sadly they tasted rather fishy.
I ordered a korma and asked for a bit of spice, when it arrived it was red with the amount of chilli powder he'd put in. I spoke to the lovely waitress who offered to change it, but since I'd got exactly what I asked for, I declined.
When I'd asked to "make it spicy", I meant spicy for a korma, but the chef made it spicy-spicy, would def have been represented by 3 chillies on the menu. Fortunately I'm OK with that level of spice, and the flavours were good.
They do gluten free breads which is amazing and not common, and I had a decaf espresso to finish, but it was the vegan ice-cream which stole the show.
Chocolate-orange deliciousness, rich & creamy, with tiny pieces of candied orange peel. Forget it's vegan and just order it, it's amazing.
My companion eats everything and had veg korma with rice and naan, and was completely satisfied.
Service staff were lovely, and I feel the standard 7.5% service included all over this Centerparcs site is not enough.
Overall I'd recommend eating here, they go out of their way to be of assistance, though in my case I feel the chef over-delivered on what I asked of him.
Oh, and the £70+ price-tag for no alcohol is definitely inflated, but that's standard at...
Read moreQuite simply the worst Indian food I’ve ever had. We went there this evening as a family of 5 and spent £165 which included 2 children’s meals at £12.50 each, so basically food and drinks (1 Pepsi and 2 7 up) was £140 for 3 people.
The poppadums were a mix and match of regular poppadums and small brownish ones which were obviously pre packaged. 2 of our family had the seekh kebab starter which had obviously been re-heated as it had gone hard on one side.
The curries tasted like supermarket ready meals, watery and no depth of flavour. The bhuna was particularly bad, the sauce had the same taste and texture of the cheap chilli con carne you get from Wetherspoons. Naans were ok, as were the chips; but the rice had those cardamom pods which you again associate with ready meals. I’m not averse to paying high prices for a decent curry and I’m aware Center Parcs is expensive but it’s still no excuse for food this bad. We ate at Hucks the night before which was £95 and the food was excellent.
Honestly if you enjoy a good curry please listen to this review and don’t eat there, you will leave very disappointed.
On the plus side the service was good and the ambiance/cleanliness of the restaurant was spot it’s just a shame...
Read moreAte at this restaurant this evening. Sadly just 1 positive thing to say:
Pros: great, friendly staff!!!
Cons: really lacks and authentic, Indian atmosphere, even the music seemed very odd. (I am Indian FYI)
Really needs and upgrade. Seating near where we were sitting was torn & looking shabby.
As another reviewer mentioned below, the saag was really salty. We sent it back & our waiter took it off the bill after we refused his kind offer of replacing the dish or choosing another.
Ok...so the part I found the hardest to digest! The price of food items!! I felt ripped off honestly. Amongst some of the overpriced items we paid for... 3 x popadoms with sauces = £8.85 1 x very average aize portion of chicken makhani = £13.35 1 x 250ml of savignon blanc £9.85!
These are like london prices! Yes we are in a ‘resort’ but such ridiculous prices. The thing is people pay (like me) but I definitely wouldn’t eat here again. Food was ok... just a bunch of different curry sauces and you can choose whether to have veg, chicken, prawn etc in it. I Definitely think a place like centre Parcs should have better quality food. This seemed like a high street balti 🙈 Sorry but this is just my...
