I have to say, we go here just about every other week. My husband is Italian and therefore (in my humble opinion) he is a coffee, icecream and pizza snob! He is refuses to eat anywhere that 'pretends to be Italian ', so he's very happy here! Aside from that raving endorsement, I have to say that for me, I love the warm welcome and cheerful banter we always get when we visit. It really is the staff that make the whole place and we love to see everyone when we pop in. The food, of course, always lives up to expectation. Whether it's a breakfast with delicious bacon and gorgeous Italian bread, or lunch - from perfectly prepared pizza to a range of authentic Italian dishes, there is nothing on the menu that disappoints. The tiramasu is my special favourite 😍 I particularly love the international buzz and inclusive atmosphere here - there are a dozen different languages being spoken all at once and people visit in their travels from all over the world. The location is unusual, being out of the city centre (there is another right in the city of Newcastle) but this place gives you a lovely view of the river and the location also means you can walk off all that fine Italian food by taking a stroll along the Quay.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunny winter walk with our Spaniels to this cafe bar as our choosen turnaround destination. Massive welcoming sign " Dogs Welcome" - the main reason for setting out on our walk. Extremely friendly welcome from James - offered a table indoors or outdoors- we took advantage of the winter sunshine and sat outside. Dogs offered water Service friendly efficient and helpful We ordered breakfast (just in time - 11.30am shut off for breakfast orders) and Coffee Great quality food and coffee and the Spaniels shared doggy sausages. Very happy to return and would happily recommend a stop over here to anyone whilst enjoying the Riverside walk. Will be a regular calling spot from now on. Called again today Easter Saturday Party of 7 adults - baby - and 4 Spaniels excellent service once again and all 7 of us thought food was exceptional- well worth the Riverside walk from Byker Cycle Hub

Excellent service from entering until leaving. Unfortunately they have quite a few Fruit Flies hovering around the place which you can see people shooing them or trying to catch them while they are eating. Don’t get me wrong but it’s not as if Fruit Flies can do you any harm and it’s not a swarm, just annoying rather than any thing else. Pizza was very large and tasty but a bit soggy in the centre but plenty toppings. Sea food Rissotti was well cooked but lacked seafood taste but maybe my expectations were set to high. Lemon Custard Tart was delicious and a good time was had overall.

*DO NOT VISIT IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH This has been a popular stop off for us but after the last two experiences we will not be visiting again until the pandemic is over !. The last visit was for a takeaway coffee and there was no effort from the staff to insist on customers having to wear a mask despite there being a notice on the door ! or limit the number queuing inside to maintain safe distancing!. The experience was the same when we had a sit in breakfast before the lockdown. .................................................................................

In response to your reply stating " we are not the police and can’t force people to behave in certain ways! " No you can not physically force people but as the owner you have a responsibility to protect customers against those who care not to obey the rules, you can do that simply by refusing to serve anyone not wearing a mask and during busy lunchtime periods you can easily have a member of staff at the door only allowing so many...
