Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Newport

Pretty appalled with the apathy of the staff in the drive through Costa at the coldra roundabout……very lazy. This was my first time visiting the place and will not be going back. Hadn’t see my friend in a while so we were sitting inside. We turned up and it was quiet with only 4-5 tables taken. We ordered and sat at a table that had used cups/plates on it so we moved them over to the side on a table attached to ours (see pic) I ordered food and was told it would be a few minutes and they would call me when ready. No call after 20mins so went to the counter to be told they had called me twice……..they didn’t because I was listening out for them to call……I didn’t say anything. They put fresh food on for me and said they would bring it over. Brought it over with no napkin or cutlery so had to ask for those. I was there for 2 and a half hours with my friend and none of the staff came over to clear the table attached to us with dishes from the previous customers. Also as customers were leaving the tables were just left with their dishes. They were really quiet inside and the drive through was quiet. The 4 staff were only interested in standing around chatting. One member of staff came around and eventually cleared the tables after we had been there over an hour and a half but they left the dishes on the table attached to us. This Costa is like a hidden gem! I had trouble locating it using Google Maps as it led me to the entrance of the highway with nothing in sight. Additionally, there isn't a large sign that's easily visible when driving around the big roundabout (although you'll spot the McDonald's sign). Thankfully, the kind lady at the shop was very patient and provided me with directions over the phone. The Costa Drive Thru is actually located across the street from McDonald's, and I was able to find it with her guidance. The two lovely barista ladies, one of whom helped me on the phone, prepared my iced hazelnut latte perfectly, and it was served nice and cold. Nice, new and airy space. The location is not pedestrian-friendly. The service was relaxed. Shame not to have had a choice of any salads for lunch. We had to cross a dual carriageway on foot from the McDonald’s car park where we were using the InstaVolt electric car charger.
