2023 Came here to celebrate our 34th Anniversary. Looking forward to a meal that represents Celtic Manor Resorts. We had a lovely drink in their peaceful and relaxing bar. Moved into the restaurant for Sunday Lunch, where we were greeted by a congratulations card and a glass of bubbly - very nice touch. Sadly it was only downhill from there. I chose a chicken terrine, my husband chose Butternut Squash Rissoto. His was lovely, my chicken terrine was served partially frozen. We complained but chose not to be served a replacement. This was followed by roast beef and roast lamb for myself. White roasted potato which had barely seen the oven accompanied by green beans, broccoli, parsnips and carrots. You needed a heavy duty saw to cut through both the beans and broccoli. We do like veg to be slightly al dente but this was shockingly under cooked. The waiters were badly trained, to the point that they were unable to identify where table number one was. The wine glass was so stuck to the tray that the poor waiter had to ask for assistance to remove it so that he was able to serve. What I can only assume was the head waiter avoided us like the plague when he realised we were unhappy. Agne, was the only person to deal with us, and whilst apologetic she didn’t have much autonomy to overly change our bill to reflect our disappointment. Instead she blamed our experience on the fact that the head chef was not in. Forgive me, the head chefs team should be able to function without him during service. Sadly the toilets were also messy and unkept for a resort of this nature. Following our visit we took a taxi home, and the driver told us that he never picks up happy customers from this venue. I have literally had better at a Toby Carvery. Very...

Service needs a complete overhaul. We were sat down and an initial drinks order was taken, along with food order. We only wanted water to start. The only time someone came to our table was to drop off our food
Nobody came to check on the food. Nobody asked if we wanted anything else, nobody asked if we wanted sauces, nobody came to ask if we wanted any additional drinks.
The table behind us was a group of lads who were there for a golfing weekend. The language off them all was absolutely intolerable, as was their topics of conversation, spoken loudly for the whole restaurant to hear we're not fit for the environment in which they were in.
Nobody from service approached them to politely ask them to mind themselves.
I understand that the hotel and establishment as a while offers itself to a different demographic to much of the Celtic collections portfolio, but you are still charging a premium for food and service. You even have the gall to charge 10% service on a bill. For what? Even McDonald's ask if you would like any sauces. Nandos even come to check on you when you eat there
This carried on for breakfast. We were told everything was self serve, which it isn't. You offer a full menu of chargeable items that hotel guests can upgrade to if they so wish. Not one person came to the table to see if we wanted to order any extras. Nobody came to check if everything was okay. Just a restaurant full of miserable waiters and waitresses who quite frankly couldn't be bothered. I wouldn't even say they didn't want to go above and beyond, because this quite frankly, this is basic...
Read moreThis was booked by a family member for my 40th Birthday and I have to say I wasn't impressed. With this restaurant being part of the celtic manor chain I was expecting a 5 star experience. The food was nothing more than pub food and in my opinion not worth the money. Also not impressed by the service although the staff were attentive, the waitress that served our food was very miserable. The manager who took our order misheard what I had asked for so the wrong food came out for me and when I said to the waiter I ordered the Lamb not steak he went and spoke to the manager. The manager then came over and told me that he had repeated my order to me 3 times (which he didn't) implying that it was my fault. He then told me that my food would be ready soon, no apology for his error just made me feel stupid infront of my family. I then sat with no food while the rest of my family were eating, only after being spoken to by a family member did he come and apologise to me. When the food eventually came out it was nothing special at all, I could have got the same in a brains pub!! The dessert menu was also appalling, everything contained alcohol except one thing and a cheese board which meant my 16 year old daughter couldn't have a dessert!! Its fair to say that my 40th birthday meal was ruined and I will never be returning to eat here again. Not the expected standard for the Celtic...
