The Goldcroft Inn — Restaurant in Newport

Used to come here for lunch in the mid 80s when we were doing the landsurveys for the then new blocks on the college campus.... The layout has changed beyond recognition the pub now has an open plan layout with a really good beer garden done to a high standard.. The food was reasonable but not like the home made pies they used to make so hence one star off.... Being harsh really also dropped a star because of the parents who can't stop their kids from running in and out of the garden and leaving the door open on a cold night again harsh and not really the pubs fault except they could ask parents to supervise their kids.... Would I go back yes but more likely in the summer to enjoy...

Only have given 3 stars due to it being my sister in laws birthday and was enjoyable If you want to have typical pub grub then that’s fine you’ll get what you paid for, but to have your roast dinner served lukewarm and then the veg under cooked is a bit of an insult No flavour to the food and no added dressing or anything for that matter

Toilet in the gents is missing 2 screws so cannot sit comfortably with the light broken and door with no lock but I shall stop there Could also tell there was no type of manager there also as they were all talking amongst themselves when we had finished our mains and desert. Will...

Booked a table for my father's birthday/retirement celebrations on 01/04/24.

We arrived at 1pm to an empty pub and were informed by staff they were running a "very limited" menu. We were then handed a long list of food they had run out of which was as long as the menu itself. We ended up having to leave and try to find somewhere which accepted walk-ins as they had essentially run out of food. Pretty inconvenient on a busy bank holiday!
