One of the worst chippy's I've ever had unfortunately. I have ate in a lot of place's all over especially Ireland 🇮🇪 but I hate the fact that not many places outside home the North of Ireland don't have an authentic good olé chippy heartbreaking lol. Unless it's the likes of checkers in Portrush or the likes of the Galley or Johnstons chippy in Donegal downings just to name a few. Not a big fan of Chinese food but even the Chinese oriental round the corner was better which I would recommend.
Don't want to sound biased but comparing the Genoa to the likes of Feeleys, Raffos, Aldos or even the Roundabout chippy in West Belfast there is no comparison not in the same league.
Started of well as the place was packed and a bit of a wait for both sit in and takeout but not worth the wait. I asked for a battered chicken burger as you do and i got a thick dry chargrilled chicken fillet not butterflied with no batter, more like a skin which was in the box and not on the chicken which came with lettuce tomatoe and cucumbers in the burger confused 🤔 first time ever. Served in a small dry charred burger bap that had the same consistency of a Belfast bap plus the bap was like a top hat 🎩 which was too small for the burger 😆🙈. Even when you take cucumber out of most things you can still taste it just like a McDonald's wrap not the nicest veggie to eat shouldn't be in a chicken burger or a wrap very weird and no option to say no I only asked for lettuce onion and mayo the norm.
Kids chicken nuggets where tiny bite size and not very appetising was like popcorn chicken in KFC opposite of a chicken nugget. Battered sausages where not bad best thing we got. Pastie was like a frozen Tony's pastie from Iceland wasn't great noone in the family would eat that either but the chips were okay 7 out of 10 for me. Loved the stay in Warrenpoint with the family and I would definitely stay again but Genoa...

Stopped here while looking for some fish and chips to take out. Well set up during COVID: a very genial staff member greeted us at the front door and enquired whether we wanted to carry out food, buy from the ice cream bar or sit in. After stating that we were after carry out food, she ensured I was wearing a mask and directed me to one of the ordering hatches inside. Another efficient staff member then took my order. Effective plexiglass screen at the ordering area that was easy to communicate through. We then waited outside while our order appeared to be cooked fresh.
Plenty of complimentary condiments, cutlery and napkins offered and a robust bag to carry it out. Ate it at the harbour, which is very beautiful and only a 2 minute walk.
Quality of the fish and chips were above average. Not too greasy or fatty. Batter was just right and fish seemed to be of high quality. Chips were great.
Not too expensive; I've definitely paid more for inferior fish suppers.

Read moreTerribly disappointed with that which I witnessed here tonight. The server was wearing her face mask like a beard. She was handling cash and then food, no gloves, touching her face and uniform without sanitising her hands. The sanitizer was plentiful and beside her work station.
She exchanged food parcels with builders, again no sanitising was happening. The builders were not wearing face masks. The food parcels were returned to food preparation areas and still no sanitising could be seen.
When I spoke with the manager, who was very apologetic the server stood there smirking behind her. I would feel sorry for the poor manager having to try and deal with someone like that on my team.
On a basic level there was poor food safety measures in place. A complete lack of HACCP training given what I witnessed, and clearly no thought for Covid guidelines.
Utterly disgusting given the...
