Utterly dreadful.
I called the restaurant serval times to try and book a table but nobody answered so we decided to call in and chance our arms around 6pm on 21/04/2022. When we arrived the place was half empty with a lot of free tables in the restaurant. The girl who greeted us said they were booked up and couldn't give us a table which was very strange as there were A LOT of free tables. After a brief discussion she said we could eat in the bar which we agreed to. The menu was unfortunately still boring and nothing jumped of the page to any of the four of us there. My son's food came first, the chips were cold. Followed 5 minutes later by the rest which to be fair tasted ok. As the tables in the bar are low we actually ate our dinner from our laps which is an absolute joke considering the restaurant didn't fill at all since we arrived or to the time we left. It was clear the girl lied about being booked up and the staff just didn't want to have a busy night. They were willing to turn people away and not answer the phone to avoid bookings. I didn't see one adult staff member apart from the bar man. Nobody was taking control as I had to constantly ask for things. The photos below show when we arrived and left.
I've honestly never had a experience like this before in any restaurant I've visited. I will never be back as this is the worst dinning out experience I've had.
My 7 year old sums it up, the...
Read moreWe were so excited to visit again, as the food, service and atmosphere last time was second to none.
This time, though, calling the experience dismal would be a compliment.
From being told that we were not able to sit outside due to it being "closed", and therefore everyone being crammed indoors (during a pandemic of an airborne virus) with less than adequate distancing, to waiting near enough to half an hour for our food order while other people who had arrived after us got their food long before us. Our food was also extremely bland, at best.
The table we sat at was so dirty and sticky that our glasses actually stuck to it.
The icing on the cake was a particular waiter cursing like a drunken sailor on his way back into the restaurant after what seemed to be a personal phone call, all in front of my 3 year old and I as I was waiting to take him into the one and only cramped and stuffy toilet with changing facilities.
Prior to our visit yesterday, we were planning on taking friends of ours to the Percy French Inn for lunch next weekend, but we will never be setting foot in there again, and we will be encouraging others to avoid it for fear of a similar experience to ours.
The only two things the restaurant still has going for it are its location and views, eating or drinking here will leave you...
Read moreBooked a table for two as we were staying at the hotel. Menu looked OK but nothing special which is surprising as I think it's meant to be part of the hotel. Decor felt a bit outdated instead of 'old pub/restaurant traditional'. Have had better tables in cheap cafes. Ordered starters, main, and drinks. Staff were overfriendly and wanted to be best buds with you on first name terms and seemed totally fake. Had cider from the tap which came out room temperature at best and had to fish some ice cubes from the water jug to cool it down. Waited for quite a while for food and when it came out it was the mains and not the starters. They apologised and said they'll get the starters and talk to the manager about the mistake (thinking we'd get a few pound off the bill). Starter was good but no butter with our wheaten bread. Had mains, beef burger was nice but exceptionally dry with no sauce. Noticed that the burgers were £2 more on the bill than what was said on the menu and told them. They quickly said it was the button on the till and jokingly told us that they were trying to scam people. Very quick to tell us the fault so they knew rightly what they were doing. Won't...
