Weekend stay on this hotel #TheParkHotel #Barnstaple #Devon #lovelyhotel

Hi, I just want to start by saying, overall I did enjoy the room & my stay at the park hotel and overall it was nice & pleasant. I was in a small double in the garden courts section of the hotel. There were a few things I noticed about the room I stayed in. Mainly about the cleanliness. I did take pictures / videos as proof just incase. I First of all, there was poo marks/stains down the toilet, the top of the mirror was dusty, the top of the TV was dusty, there was dust / dirt attached to the outside of the wardrobe, there was a bit of mess/dirt & a hair on top of the drawers. Also, the dressing table & bedside table nearest the window felt slightly dusty/grubby too. I also noticed, The outside edge of the shower tray was dirty or marked. The kettle lid was dusty and the corners of the spout where the water pours out, they seemed a grubby / rusty too. To add, I noticed that after running the sink tap, it would drip for a little while (thinking either a tap / sink fault or a general plumbing issue). Lastly, I also noticed that the mirror attached to the wall above the bathroom sink - it is obviously meant an electric mirror, but it doesn’t turn on (possible electrical fault?), not only that, I noticed it was a little bit loose from the wall and could be partially moved from the bottom. I don’t expect much to be done with this message or info. But I wanted to mention it all, so that maybe it could be noted for future reference for staff & customers to be aware of. Other than the things mentioned above, which were unpleasant, but realistically they are small / minor things - the hotel was set up lovely, nice decor & interior, and it seemed well organised and tidy. The bed & bedding were very comfortable & cosy. The staff on the front desk were very friendly, pleasant & helpful. Thank you. I would stay here again.

We found this fabulous hotel on Google when looking for a hotel in Barnstaple, and we were not disappointed. The Park Hotel team really do go the extra mile! Thank you to Sandra, Jake, Destiny, and all of the team. The Park hotel is spotless, clean and modern...and £40 per night cheaper than an Inn which is close by. The room was airy, clean, modern with a welcome tea tray which had various teas and coffees ☕️ and also yummy biscuits 😋. The bathroom had white fluffy towels, hand cream, hand wash, shampoo, hair conditioner etc. Our room had a hairdryer, plenty of plug points, a fridge, wine glasses, tumblers etc. The bed linen was clean, fresh and crisp with attention to detail and beautiful curtains which were fully lined (so no day light coming in), the room was so warm and cosy. We had a fabulous breakfast 🍽 the Park Hotel had plenty of high quality fresh ingredients, so we started with a continental breakfast and decided to go for a small bowl of granola with fresh fruit 🍉🍇🍓🥭and a sprinkling of crystallised ginger🫚 , (obviously if you wanted more you were more than welcome to go back up). We then chose smoked haddock with poached eggs which also had a wonderful lemon sauce which was absolutely delicious 😋. We also had fresh orange juice, tea and coffee which set us up for the day (other fresh juices and hot drinks were available). The Park Hotel had a great menu and the bar area had lots of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to choose from. Our room had a great view of the park and we were right in the centre of Barnstaple. Thank you to the Park Hotel team for going over an above in making our stay enjoyable.

Arriving at The Park Hotel on Tuesday 13th December for two nights we were greeted by the Receptionist. We went to our room which was dated but we could deal with that and we could see that they had some builders straight in front of our room. Didn't think anything of it as we were off out for some Christmas shopping. The next morning me and my partner were woken up by these builders at 8:00am considering we are on a three day holiday!! If i wanted to be woken up at this time i would of stayed at home!! So i complained to the manager on duty Simon and he said that he will move us to a another room downstairs. Great and he offered us breakfast which was really nice of him. When arriving at the new room which was lovely unpacked our things i decided to have my shower, while putting the shower on it started to flood!!! so call reception and explained the situation she said that they will get maintenance. Then two ladies arrived one lady put the shower on and put some powder down the drain to which it didn't help at all. So she said i will change you to another room!! At this point i wasn't happy at all. We finally got into the third room and it was lovely. I then finally got ready to start my day which the whole morning was wasted as we had to be moved three times. On the 15th December we left our room to go to reception to speak to Simon about the bill he said that he spoke to his director Manager and that they couldn't give us anything off our bill for compensation for all the hassle we had to deal with. So i ask to speak with the manager and he spoke to me and my partner with no respect at all every time we wanted to speak he spoke over me and my partner and he was totally unprofessional for a hotel director manager. We didn't make us feel like customers should feel when staying at a hotel. I came away very upset and it ruined my holiday!! I will not be returning to the hotel. I would recommend for you to let your customers know you have builders on site and that they might get woken up very early in the morning and if you have new rooms available make sure that everything works within them!! Also your manager needs to be sent on a re fresh course on how to speak and deal with customers in the right way!!! Customer service is a big thing and your hotel stay was not...
