Stayed in Barnstaple for a few days, and on our way from the train station, we stumbled upon this place. Looked great outside, nice decor inside. The signs made it sound amazing, we didn’t eat but would liked to of tried at some point during our stay. We sat outside for a while, unsure if it was table service, despite the sign saying it was. I went in and ordered drinks for the few of us. When I was served at the bar, I was asked if I wanted food, but when I replied just drinks, was told the kitchen is closed and they’re not serving? I felt like I was offered something I couldn’t have.. I just didn’t see the point in mentioning it unless I had asked specifically. The staff didn’t really look like they knew what they were doing. Read moreI have been going to Lilicos for a good many years and always have a really good time there. Tapas is a great social way to eat, small plates of food which you share with each other 4 or 5 different plates of food shared between 2 or 3 people is often enough with a plate of mixed bread creamy garlic dip, olive oil and Bolslsamic vinigar dip and a dish of olives to share as a starter. The price is very good to. Earlier this year my wife and I had the mixed bread with dips and olives, a drink with the meal 6 different plates of food, one of which was of the specials list. We were fall, so we rounded the meal of with coffee. We were both very surprised when the bill came to see that the hole meal with drinks had come to less than £50 A GREAT ...
Read moreWe were wandering through the town whilst on holiday and came across this great little restaurant.
We went for the 6 tapas and bottle of wine for £30, great little deal! We added another tapas dish to it as we could not decide on 6 dishes alone. Too much great choice on offer. Service from the staff was great! Very pleased that they served the dished when then were ready, as like in Spain. Very authentic.
I am not sure if the chef had worked in Spain or was Spanish but all the dishes were very authentically cooked some with a slight variation on the classic but perfectly suited to English cuisine.
I wish we lived in the area as this for sure would be a regular restaurant I would go to.
If you like tapas you'll love Lilico's.
