Although I havenāt yet had the pleasure of visiting the tea rooms in person, I cannot speak highly enough of Gail and her incredible team. Their dedication to supporting the local community is truly inspiring.
As part of my role as a Group Coordinator for the national charity Re-engage, I organised an 80th VE Day afternoon tea party at my local church for residents of Chesterfield. When I reached out to Gail, she didnāt hesitate to offer her support. She generously provided an array of beautifully presented platters filled with delicious sandwiches, savoury bites, and an assortment of cakes ā all of which were an absolute hit with our guests!
The quality of Gailās food is simply exceptional ā everything was fresh, flavourful, and made with love. Itās no surprise that Iāve struggled to book a table for lunch at her cafĆ©; theyāre always fully booked, which is a true testament to just how popular and outstanding they are.
I wholeheartedly recommend visiting the tea rooms ā but be sure to book in advance to secure your spot! Huge thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Gail and her wonderful team. Youāre all a shining example of community spirit and culinary excellence!

First of all Tea - Gail's tea is nothing short of perfection, little sips of happiness, if you think you don't like tea I beg to differ can't make that judgement until you've tried Gail's proper tea!! The tea room, lovely little spot for tea and cake, brunch or a light lunch (although not light as the portion sizes are fantastic value for money!). All locally sourced or home made, fresh ingredients and delicious! Gail and her 'team teacups' are all such genuine, lovely people who want you to enjoy your experience in the shop whether that's just popping in for a take away cake, a gift, to stock up on tea or for the full traditional afternoon tea experience the service is always top quality.
It also helps that they're dog friendly, our dogs always get cuddles and treats when they visit the shop and it'sjust as exciting of an experience for them as it is for us!
Remember to book as there's only a few tables but Gail will always accommodate where she possibly can. Give them a go, you won't regret it - Cup and saucer are now catering my wedding because that's how much I trust what they do and enjoy the food/experience...

Cup & Saucer in Clay Cross is an absolute hidden gem in Derbyshire! We were lucky enough to visit this charming, independent tea shop and completely fell in love with the experience. Whether you're a tea enthusiast or just love cosy cafƩs with a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must.
Gail, the heart behind it all, is an award-winning local producer (Muddy Stilettos 2022 & 2023!) and it really shows. Her hand-blended loose leaf teas are incredible ā from comforting classics to creative, unique blends. You can taste the care in every cup.
We also enjoyed a delicious lunch with generous portions, and the highlight was the nostalgic Knickerbocker Glory ā as fun and tasty as it sounds! Nearly everything is locally sourced, and the quality shines through.
The shop also offers beautiful tea-themed gifts, homemade bakes, and warm, friendly service that makes you feel right at home. You can even shop their teas online, which is perfect for gifts or refills!
Itās the kind of place that makes you want to linger. A true community treasure ā support local, support women-led, support passion....
