If I could leave a 0 star I would. Have been coming here for weeks and was shocked at the service today. Simply asked if there was any additional chairs for outside as there was a table with no chairs. The attitude I was given first from the staff at the door then from a lady behind the bar was unforgivable. Neither let me talk and the lady behind the bar even went to the extreme to raise her voice at me. To which point I walked off and she shouted excuse me listen to me! I think not ! why should I have to stand there and take a member of your staff shouting at me due to me wanting chairs for a table with no chairs.
This isn’t the first time to be fair but have come back due to it being local. One time we was sat there mid breakfast and was asked to move mid meal because they had a bigger table come in.
Won’t be returning and will be informing everyone in the area we know of the poor excuse of a service you provide.
RESPONSE TO CAFE LUNAS REPLY: as I can’t seem to reply to their comment!! What really happened? Wow! This is what really happened. There was two of us. We were not a large party. Upon arrival we found a table with no chairs so I came in asking for additional chairs for the empty table. No member of staff was polite to myself when I asked - I was snubbed off by one member of your team. Correct I did ask for an inside chair just temporarily as we had a dog and it was a nice day so wanted to use the empty table and sit outside. Not sure what fabric has to do with it? We would’ve been sat on the fabric inside or outside? Irregardless after myself asking to speak to the manager as I didn’t appreciate the snubby response from the lady at your door - a different member of your team behind the bar rudely again went we can’t do that and don’t have any extra chairs very abruptly. It then escalated- I did not walk away before she could explain herself for being so rude, I walked away once I was shouted at. My voice was not raised initially - I said I’m shocked at the lack of help, I also said I come here a lot and I don’t deserve to be spoken to like that. In addition - let’s bear in mind you have a seating area outside the back area that you could advised myself to look at or use chairs from. (which I was told today after informing some friends of your staffs treatment towards me) I suggest you re ask your staff the full story before accusing myself of being in the wrong. I infact went back after I walked off as she continued shouting “listen to me - are you even going to listen to me” to which I replied no I’m not in an equally raised voice. Which I think is fair enough! I don’t deserve to be shouted at in the first instant.
My tables??? I didn’t have a table!! There was two of us! The table in question that we wanted to sit at was off the path and was empty as I had just arrived at the restaurant (with no chairs!!). I had noticed a large group of people against the wall that had taken numerous chairs but was nothing to do with myself.
I suggest again you ask your members of staff regarding the prior incident of us being asked to move mid meal - it was a young girl with dark hair she seemed fairly new but we were sat on the only remaining table outside when we arrived which was a table of four - again for our party of two - then when a group of 3 people turned up the member of your team came over to us and asked if we would mind moving to seat the new table.
I am sorry if your staff was in tears - that is not nice and do not want that , but I do not appreciate being spoken to or snubbed at first instant when asking for two chairs for an empty table in order to eat at your cafe.
If that’s what you believe at Luna then you should have a good chat with your staff because I certainly treated your staff with the same...
Read moreToday was a disappointing experience, which was a shame, considering me and my friend were just saying how Luna is the coolest place in Baldock!!! Literally, a few minutes before this incident, and how much we love it. I had asked for a vegetarian dish (for context, I work with, and study, animals and I haven't been able to eat meat for the last 8 years) and the waitress made a mistake and delivered Bacon covered by cheese. My friend and I were deep in conversation so I didn't notice right away, I took a big mouthful and as i swallowed it, i realised it was meat - covered by melted cheese). I could feel it in my teeth and the taste was unmistaken. This may not be a big issue for most, but for me it was huge, not only for my beliefs but also because it made me nauseous to think about it, and last time I accidentally ate meat in a dumpling I was sick in the middle of the night like there was no tomorrow, puking my guts out! Just for one dumpling! I told the waitress that i had ordered a veggie jacket potato and she said it was her fault... which I appreciated. I was trying to remove pieces of this poor pig from my teeth and i was feeling nauseous, when i asked for another tea to take the flavour away from my mouth, and they told me the tea was on the house. I didn't say anything, and I was appreciative of the gesture, but clearly they didn't understand just how awful it feels for a non meat eater to eat a mouthful of flesh. If the roles were reversed, I would have offered the dish free of charge as that was a pretty bad mistake. I didn't want to say anything as I am sensitive on how meat eaters can dismiss this issue and I didn't want to put myself through that, and I just left, but that didn't feel great. My friend later told me she tried to mention it when she went to check out but she was met with "sorry but there is nothing we can do, we offered a tea after all." and when I found this out it made me want to write this review. A tea! Something I would offer anyone who enters my house anyway, like a plumber, even while paying HIM I would...
Read moreThe best cafe around by far! Whenever I have friends or family over this is my top choice of breakfast/lunch/coffee stop and I’ve been to all cafes in Baldock. The food is amazing, fresh, well presented and with top quality ingredients. I was a bit thrown when I moved here and found that something like this was in Baldock, expected to travel to the likes of hitchin or St Albans for it. It’s a cosy cafe with comfortable chairs and nice atmosphere. The cakes are handmade and they have a good selection instead of bought from Tesco which I’ve found from another cafe in Baldock.. I just really like the effort put into the food and the menu. My sister is vegan and gluten free and she can never find anywhere to eat but I love taking her here and I get all the options I like too. There’s one female staff that I find a bit short /less friendly but honestly I love the cafe so much it isn’t a big deal and the male owner (I think?) is so lovely. Just a really nice place to eat or relax but it can get busy on the...
