Bombay Bistro Restaurant — Restaurant in North Hertfordshire

Never returning here, calling all friends and family. [RE:] ⚠️IGNORANT & BELITTLING STAFF⚠️ 18:20pm, 24/12/2017.

Key notes: •We previously called for our order approx. 40 minutes before arrival. •Order totalled to over £40.00 •It is going to be our Christmas Dinner •My family are Indian, aswell as the resturant staff member (mentioned below)p.s. (Before people start pulling any cards). •We owned an Indian resturant in Spain •All family members have decades experience in the catering industry.

We arrived in Baldock after a drive from a neighbouring town which took over 20 minutes.

Upon arrival we was greeted by a front house staff member who was going to take payment upon delivery. This was fine and as planned.

We was paying by card and was absolutely fine.

After input of card details and card machine saying some sort of error he quickly looked over and said "What have you done to it?!".

Purely insulting and belittling my hard working father. Who had just tried to send through a £40+payment.

My mother was astounded by his response to his own machine not working and In reply for my father she said sarcastically "Sir, yes people like us don't go to shops, we don't know how to use them card machines, it's only you who works". Then further saying quietly to my father "He will realise it was an issue with the machine and then apologise to you".

Immediately wanting a payment he checked the machine and realised it was out of paper and undone the back and added a role of paper in the insert. Now handed the machine back and said "Yes. It is just me who works!". My father paid the money took the food and left.

I'm absolutely surprised this behaviour happened in this day and age. We are a very highly respectful family who have love for everybody. This incident has ruined our day and we cannot believe a head member of staff would act in these ways.

We are purely giving this resturant 1* Rating. Due to the fact they ensured we will never be returning. And with great faith in never returning to a business only deeds a low level score. The lowest.

We have no intentions of getting this matter resolved as it was only speech and my Hindu father is a very strong believer in moving forward. But these incidents here are why people won't return back to your premesis.

Google isn't the only place we've left a review.

I will be emailing local environmental authorities and pages to see if they are interested in publishing an article on this resturant.

With the intelligence and experience in the field we have, I find it strange staff would assume their loyal customers would accept their downright outrageous...

Delivery driver completely inept for the job. Drove straight past my house, then called up moaning that I wasn't answering the door. I explained hes actually not at my house and is instead at a flat under a different address, yet he insisted he was right... Sherlock?! Whilst politely explaining where I am situated he angrily snapped that I make no sense and put the phone down on me (what's rocket science about being the first house you see at the entrance of the road he just entered, I do not know?) Finally he arrived, which then led to a lot of flapping his arms like a bird and whinging at me, as apparently "I'm hard to contact because my number isn't on the receipt", he seemed unable to grasp that I have no power over how the restaurant or just eat print out the receipts and so he continued to have a hissy fit and stormed away rudely as I was still talking to him. How, if he doesn't have my number did he call me? I fail to see why his issue, on his end is my fault? I remained polite and patient during all of our exchange so do not find myself deserving of such childish behaviour from a man old enough to be my father! We got our food... Which sadly was water logged and cold by which point, resulting in just eat refunding us.. We have never had a problem in the past with a single delivery driver over the 7 years we have been here, everyone always finds us easily... Also never had a problem with the restaurant itself, but after such a revolting attitude I can't say we will be ordering again so a shame really... I went with my daughter to Bombay Bistro on 15th October 2022. We goyt in early at 6pm and was met by the owner who was very pleasant and got us a table, the place was empty at the time. My daughter had to send her coke back twice because it was flat but it was no trouble to the staff. She eventually settled on a j2o. We ordered the meal and it took a good 20 to 25 mins to arrive which is a good sign that that are taking care to make sure it's no rushed and its right for customers. When the food came it was well presented and looked very nice. One the small picky points I would of preferred to see my curry in a steel bowl I stead of a porselin one and a bigger container for the rice as a bit more rice would of been perfect. The food was first class a nice thick flavoursome sauce and generous meat and king prawns. The food was very good and my daughter said it was the best curry she has ever had. For me it's up there with the best too., I've had as good but not better. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I would advise to get in early as the service slows right down at peak times. We all have to understand that when you are the best curry house in Boldock you are in high demand and when the food is so good it will not be quick. Its not like McDonald's, burgers are quicker and easy to cook than a fantastic curry that requires grest skill and experience to get right for all customers on a consisant basis.
