Following your reply. Your statements are untrue. I did not have a problem with you picking up the items as you have stated. And the bag was not returned with empty boxes. The pizza box was empty and one of the burger box’s had no chicken in as I said my husband gave to the dog. My burger had one bite from it and the chicken strips were returned as were the majority of chicken wings. Your response is shocking that you would outright lie about the returned goods. Still waiting for a refund. And to say that the cook accidentally put chicken strips in is unbelievable at what point when they were putting it in the bun did they not look and say ‘oh that isn’t a chicken breast ‘ Shocking! We just paid £11 each for 2 burgers that were dry. And the tiniest bit of chicken breast. My husband ordered the mild I ordered the hot. No difference between the two. Pizza bland. Chicken strips sour and dry. Wings dry. £49 in total. Should have gone to McDonald’s. Awful

As embarrassing as it is but I actually had to spit my food into my hand in-front of my husband. I ordered the chicken burger with onion rings on top. First bite and it was just soggy cold batter no onion soaked in cold oil! Confirmed by the waitress who did apologise but unfortunately it tasted so awful. I then looked at my chicken burger which was so over cooked and the batter mix was so hard it was enough not to eat any of my meal. I was offered a replacement but after looking at my husbands vac packed ribs I decided against chancing another meal. Absolutely shocking place

Just had a fantastic meal at Flintshack. Delicious burgers and bbq ribs. The skinny fries are wonderful. Kids meals says mini burger but is a generous portion. Lovely atmosphere, superb service with friendly, helpful staff. The owner made a huge effort with the children making them laugh. Real family friendly place. Chairs so comfortable and everywhere very clean. Only lost one star as we were a little disappointed with the desserts. Will definitely be coming back to try the pizzas next time as they looked fab on the next table to us.

2024-10-25 - small update, sort of a request. Some of the starters are very tasty but honestly too large, perhaps designed for sharing but my wife loves the nachos and I'm more of a chicken fan. It would be awesome to have a half size option for the variety a starter offers without being over full. Also, I'd really like there to be a normal cider option, on draft would be great but bottled is fine. But just plain apple dry cider. 2024-08-20 time for an update Still a great place, we go perhaps every couple of months. They've tweaked the menu a bit. A couple of new vegetarian options. But mostly just delivering a solidly good experience, good food, good service.

Great new restaurant in Royston. It was busy when we went but service was fast and friendly. I like to judge the quality of a place by how it handles problems. My wife requires Gluten free and that often leads to mistakes. In this case a burger order arrived with a regular bun. However, when queried they immediately recognised the problem, and also noted they would need to remake the whole burger not just switch it into a GF bun. This was handled swiftly. I consider all this a great sign of quality. Mistakes are inevitable but how they are handled is what gives me confidence to return. My chicken wings and steak main where great. Can't wait to go back and try their pizzas.

Update: November 2022 Still a great place. Good food, good service. Not the cheapest option but worth it. Glad to have this place in Royston Update: January 2024 A few tweaks to the menu since last I wrote. Still a lot of really nice options. Still on the pricey side locally but I'd consider it worth the money. Service continues to be good....

Firstly, sorry there are no photos we just enjoyed our visit so much it slipped our mind.

Wow, what a great place to have opened up in Royston. Food was amazing, everything we had was cooked perfectly. We shared 3 of the starters, JD chicken strips (personally the JD sauce was not to my taste but my husband loved them), salt and pepper squid which was on point and tasty enough that it really didn't need the accompanying sauce and the Mac and cheese (probably the best I've tried in a restaurant). For our mains we had the roots burger and a sirloin steak. Both exceeded our expectations (I'm incredibly fussy when it comes to steak). The seasoning on the skinny fries definitely deserves a mention too. We were so full and had the food been of a lower quality we would have left it there but we were so happy with it all we just had to try the desserts too. We chose the cheesecake (cherry Bakewell flavour) and the flintshack waffles, again very very good. The atmosphere and staff were brilliant and the only thing I could possibly say against them is that it didn't quite have that smooth flow to things you find in more established places but that really is I'm going to be over critical. I wouldn't expect it to be that way in a new restaurant anyway. Since our visit I'm pretty sure we have mentioned it to everyone we have seen or spoken to and have already started looking at a time and date that we can return. Amazing place, amazing food, amazing staff. Would...

Extremely disappointed to be honest. Food was very over priced for it is. But let's start with the Pro's the two waitresses/barstaff were very friendly. Both over the phone and during service. The restaurant although small is very pretty. The food however Is a bit more undesirable. The "large" portion of the JD chicken bites, wasn't that large at all, was actually around 4-5 stripe on a plate. I dread to think how many the normal portion contained, not only that but the JD sauce that came with it seemed to taste burnt. The mains... we both had burgers, now although the burger concepts seem very interesting. The meat itself was bland and unseasoned, I've had more flavour from a beef patty in McDonald's. The sweet potato fries were also dry. No check back from the manager who delivered our food ( hard to tell who our server was as we were served at different times of the meal by different servers) so the burgers remained mostly uneaten. Then finally the desserts arrived. While again they looked nice. Mine was incorrect and my partners was once more dry. These two were mostly untouched. I will however give credit to the manager. Whom listened to the issues we had and dealt with it promptly. Probably won't return if I'm honest. It may be a newish business but it's a Sunday evening at 6.45pm with roughly 10 covers in the building. If your staff can stand around talking. You're not busy and food and check back mistakes are...
