I have been a regular visitor to this pub for many years and it is what it is, a fairly typical ‘Spoons’.Quite often quiet enough to read the paper ,enjoy a pint but too often a noisy theatre for intoxicated loudmouths who appear to think that they are perfectly entitled to behave as though they are on a football terrace somewhere. Why in the name of God do certain people feel it necessary to shout when ever they communicate with their mates who are but a few feet away? Absolutely pathetic. Most members of staff are professional, pleasant and capable but to be perfectly honest, the staff ‘meetings’ at the far right end of the bar often generate language that a Naval locker room would recognise. My reason for posting , however, is to highlight an absolutely appalling meal I had today. My wife, cousin and her husband quite frequently meet for lunch , spend around £60.00 and in fairness the quality of the food has been acceptable, never outstanding but ok over the past 7 or 8 years. Today though, my ‘Empire State Burger’ was absolutely awful. What the heck is this 3oz burger nonsense about? Instead of the really pretty good quality 6oz burgers that were once provided I paid £11.25 for four(!) pathetic, burnt to a crisp tasteless pieces of cardboard. Awful. Why didn’t I complain? What’s the point? I know ‘Spoons’ profits are going down the toilet but I tell you this Mr.Martin if you don’t get a grip (and I have no doubt that you ,personally ,will be absolutely fine) your pubs will continue to close at an alarming rate and your employees will find themselves on the scrap...

We went today with my husband and daughter and it was the worst experience I've ever had. The place seemed severely understaffed with tables not cleared for over 20 minutes. We ordered 2 chicken burgers and a chicken fillet with peas and chips for my daughter. We waited over 40 minutes (having paid in advance) and no one came back to update us when we asked. I saw 2 other girls ask about their food and leave before it arrived. My daughter became unsettled as she was very hungry. Eventually the food arrived. The chicken for my daughter was stone cold, unseasoned and dry as can be. She refused to eat it. She only had some peas and spit out the chips which were also dry and tasteless. Our "burgers" were day-old patties that had just been reheated and the chicken strips you can get in Tesco's. We have made similar sandwiches at home which were a lot better. We had to leave in a hurry as my daughter was really tired at this point and tracking down an employee to complain would take a stupid amount of time. We were on a spontaneous day out and thought we could just get something to eat without too much stress but this is what we got....

I visited the Manor House Wetherspoon Royston on 28th Jan 2025 and 29th Jan 2025. I think this is the worst Wetherspoon as a service wise in all around the UK. I ordered a cocktail, but the bartender placed too much juice inside, didn’t taste alcohol, I didn’t drink and asked to the manager, he refused to replace it, he said that he will not replace with the new one by the company rules then I returned the drink, also the next day went there again to have a breakfast, there was a young girl, she never stayed behind the counter at the bar. She always chat with the group of old people around their table and ignored the other customers, there was no customer at the bar, however I waited nearly five minutes for both of the orders for her to stop chatting. Too many tables were dirty, she never cleaned the tables, instead of look after the customers, she preffered to chat with the certain people and keep the other customers to...

*EDITED 22/12/2023. Wow, how the quality of food has gone downhill so much here. Shrinkflation has truly got into this place. We ordered the American cheese burger and fried buttermilk chicken burger. Prices for the meals are £7.33 and £8.97 respectively and that's with alcoholic drinks. Well, the portion sizes are childrens sizes, food is still wetherspoons "meh" quality but the portions have shrunk drastically. Burgers are tiny and chips are half portions now. The whole idea of wetherspoons was a cheap meal and cheap drinks. That is CERTAINLY NOT the case here any more. In the current state of the world you'd expect a "no-frills" establishment that traded on cheap food and drink would keep to that mantra. Not any more. If like me you're a person that requires a decent sized meal this is no the place unless you order the small extras. Good venue, indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are standard. No on-site parking though.

I was so so impressed with this Weatherspoons. I think this is one of my favourite spoons I've been to and I've been to a lot. The pub was really clean and felt fresh. The staff were really friendly and service was quick. There's the normal great range of food which has something for everyone! Our food was well cooked and tasty! There were board games available for people to borrow and play in the pub! The toilets were spotless and it's close to the town centre.

It's a Spoons pub, so you know what you're getting. Nice and clean. Has a good selection of drinks to suit all tastes, food not bad either. I really like their American breakfast. Still reasonably priced, even after the recent price increase. Only reason I didn't give it five stars was because every time I try to order through the app, it comes up with an error message at payment and won't take my order, so have to go to the bar.
