Was my sons 18th birthday this night. Brazil were 4-0 up, he was ecstatic as he and I are 1/8th Brazilian. The night started out a pleasant experience until 5 hooded men rushed in (SAS style) to the bar. I offered one of the gentle men a pork scratching but instead pulled out a sawn off shotgun and insisted I gave him my wallet. I refused as I was desperate for another bowl of delicious, fluffy, mouth watering scratchings. I then received a broken nose. I awoke in lister hospital with no wallet and I had lost my son. Odd little place this. Fairly quiet for an Irish bar but it is a cosy place with friendly service and good range of spirits and beer. Juke box, clean restrooms and pool table give the place a dated but comfortable feel. Great if you want an evening out and be able to communicate with your friends without shouting. Arrived last night and was turned away, this WAS my local pub but after being turned away, very rudely, for a third time due to a private function I will not return. If you book a public house for a private function which doesn't have a separate room then you should expect the general public to be allowed to enter.
