The Victoria, better known as The Vic, is a perfect English pub in Hitchin. Close enough for us to walk to for a drink while staying at a friend's flat at Coopers Yard. They have a great food, specials every night and a well lit up patio so you can even enjoy it at night. There is a private party room you can reserve for special occasions that was being used on our visit. They had advertisements for an upcoming best taco contest for a friendly competition amongst local eateries. The Vic is fun, lively and full of local ambience.

This is the best pub in Hitchin, no doubt about it. Warm welcome when we arrived. We used to live in Hitchin, and frequented this alot. Haven't been for two years, but we were welcomed like we only were in yesterday. Lovely character corner pub, with a brilliant outside area, star of the show being the pizzas. Highly recommend the mushroom, with truffle oil. Excellent. Pub does not have a car park, but plenty in town. Trendy crowd. Brilliant.

We love The Vic - it's a proper community pub where you always feel welcome. They have been amazing over the last year in such difficult circumstances and it's a real testimony to Vic, Tom and the whole team that they have kept their heads held high. I'm proud they are our local and can't wait to enjoy many more happy times there this summer and in years to come. Cheers!!

The Victoria pub in Hitchin is a cozy and welcoming establishment with a classic English pub atmosphere. The interior is tastefully decorated with comfortable seating areas and a charming bar. The pub offers a great selection of beers, ales, and wines, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to offer recommendations and advice.

The food at The Victoria pub is excellent, with a menu that caters to all tastes and dietary requirements. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is apparent in each dish. The pub's Sunday roast is particularly noteworthy, with succulent meats and perfectly cooked vegetables, however food is not served all week.

The Victoria pub also hosts live music events and other entertainment, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. The pub's outdoor seating area is a lovely spot to relax on a sunny day, and the venue is pet-friendly, making it a great place to visit with your furry friends.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Victoria pub to anyone looking for a friendly and enjoyable pub experience in Hitchin. The atmosphere, food, and drink are all top-notch, and the staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. This is not the quietest pub in hitchin, so it may be very busy on weekdays, and especially...

Great staff, great location, the food is tasty but the pizzas need to be cooked longer, or the oven needs to be hotter before the raw dough is added, pizzas need that crisp underneath and on the crust, the textural experience is paramount to pizza.

Cannot fault the flavour but until those pizzas have an audible crunch it's just going to feel like it's lacking. (Edit: I now know I don't know what pizza they serve and its my own stupidity, but I do still like a crispy pizza)

But to their credit they're absolutely smashing pizzas out and the flavour is still a 10.

Parm chips were undercooked and had no flavour of truffle, such an underwhelming side also doesn't compliment the time that goes into the pizza.

Edit: in reply to the replies, no doubt you guys will smash it on the next visit, your quality is still a 10 and your explanation makes sense, that's more down to me not knowing about the style you serve but I'll come in with an more open mind next time.

Hospitality is hard and you guys have a great location, great staff, great seating, great customer care and a desire to be better. Keep at it x

Bumped you up a star because it was my mistake, but I do really like a crispy pizza, you do me one of those next time and I'll be on...

We were served by a blonde lady in a yellow raincoat (Amy). We came here twice in a single day - both times she was weirdly sarcastic and rude. She really seemed uninterested in us and was very stand offish. At first we thought she was joking but after a while it became apparent she was actually just being really belittling. We got the impression this was her ‘thing’ but it actually just came across as really rude.

The second time we came here it was pouring with rain and we found a table in a dry outside area - she came over and very loudly told us to get up and ‘stand by the wait to be seated sign’. As it was raining and no one was at the sign when we arrived we found our own seating. I understand that seating has to be organised in a certain way, but is it really that serious to be rude to us in front of everyone….

We were originally really excited to find such a cool place in Hitchin but after this we won’t be coming back which is a real shame purely because of...
