Update: Gemma thank you for your reply and contact, I’m really pleased how this is being resolved. I must of been extremely unlucky as I see great reviews, however we booked to dine and was given an extremely small table that wouldn’t fit our group of food on, I went back to the manager, who explained that it was the system fault that booked us not the pub, being busy as it was quiz night. It was a tad odd as had confirmation confirmed and advised it was quiz night, so thought great as there be atmosphere. Anyway we managed to get a bigger table though the man was agitated as he wasn’t prepared for his quiz night whilst dealing with my problem but He sort of sorted it out! More like we did with another group of customers, I felt like I was a huge problem ! However when I went to only go and order food, I could hear the manager b&@£hed about us to another customer. I could not believe what I was hearing, he mentioned that we still wasn’t happy ( in fact we didn’t say anything and was quite happy ). Before all of this we witnessed a female staff being spoken to like a child twice and yet this lady was so lovely and apologetic. Going back to what I heard I did say something as I wasn’t rude I was calm till this point, I repeated what was said and said it was unprofessional, I didn’t understand why he had to behave that way and also mention how his female staff is a grown woman and should be treated like a woman and not a child as a member of staff did speak down to her. I’m gutted I didn’t have a great experience, I’m glad we left and our alternative was so welcoming, plus the food was lush. they say things happen...
Read moreFirst of all I'll say we were greeted by friendly people and the food we were able to order was really good, but our experience was marred by the ordering system.
There was a QR code ordering thing on the table, which wasn't working for some reason, so we had to order at the bar. We were a party of 8 booked in for Mother's Day and I would not bring a party of guests again.
There was no way of knowing which food had run out until we went to order at the bar, which, when you've got so many people ordering, can be frustrating, and a lot of food had run out. One of our party was vegetarian and one was vegan due to a dairy allergy. They were both really looking forward to the delicious sounding Butternut Squash roast, only to be told that had run out. This was especially difficult for the vegan who was a child and it was stressful for the parents to find something else for him to have. He ended up with the potato tots. The vegetarian had to go with the Margherita pizza, which was tasty but really not what they expected to be eating for this meal. It made what was expected to be a nice family meal out quite hard.
I'm glad so many other people have had a good experience here but it didn't happen for us...
Read moreSuch a disappointment. Having had some lovely food at The Old White Horse we decided to treat my parents to a Sunday lunch. Booked a week in advance for 5 people (5th guest being a 10 month old) and when we arrive for our lunch we are told they are fully booked and after spending 5 hours trying to work out where he can place all of his lunch bookings, he results to putting us on two bar tables, sitting on small bar stalls in a little side room. My parents are older, so sitting on little stalls to eat dinner is not doable. Not to mention the fact the two tiny bar tables big enough to hold drinks would never have housed 4 dinner plates with drinks & sides. The solution would be, to have not taken so many bookings if you cannot accommodate in the restaurant…. Just comes across as greedy and unprofessional. I would have preferred a call to say you couldn’t accommodate ahead of my arrival so to save the embarrassment as we then have to leave because you couldn’t offer a...
