Tapps Cafe — Restaurant in North Hertfordshire

Very rude staff. I asked if there was a table available and a woman at the back of the kitchen just said "NO". Didn't even try to offer a takeaway or any other help, so I left and got a coffee and cake elsewhere. Went here on a recommendation but won't be returning.

Update after response. My visit was on the afternoon of Tuesday 14th August at around 3pm, I was on my own and when I walked in I did read the sign that is why I had a look around for a spare table. I saw one near the door with reserved, another in the middle that had no chairs around it and one at the far end with reserved on it as well. This is why I approached the counter enquiring about any tables available, after the woman said no someone also muttered (possibly the same person) "Well there is a table but not any chairs!" If I was with other people or meeting someone else there I probably would of waited for a seat but as I mentioned, I was on my own so I had a brief look at the cakes on display and then left. I understand that places can get very busy at certain times of the day and this can be stressful for the staff but there is no need to be rude to your customers and a simple "Sorry we don't at the moment but we're happy for you to wait" would...

Disappointing & Overpriced

Ordered a jacket potato, expecting a proper oven-baked one, but it was clearly microwaved despite being told otherwise. The filling was barely two tablespoons in a tiny container—not nearly enough. When we asked for more, they wanted to charge extra. For the price, this was an absolute rip-off. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place for food. Maybe just grab a coffee or tea, but steer clear of the meals! I will give four stars for the girls who served us. The gentleman ( maybe the boss)- serving essentials baked beens from a tin and trying to rip off by using one tinned beans for over 4 jacket potato’s ? ‘ when we voiced are opinion we were told eating out is expensive —don’t rip off for a jacket potato ..never coming back...

Went to this place this morning for a small bite to eat for breakfast. Ordered beans on toast and tomato soup... couldn't quite believe what we had. Advertised as homemade food and cooked fresh to order - tinned soup being warmed up in a microwave and no more than 15 beans on 2 slices of bread for beans on toast. Bitter coffee as if the machine hasn't been serviced for a long time. I absolutely hate leaving reviews like this but there's no way we couldn't after this experience.

Looks like the kind of place that they've tried really hard to establish but have given up completely. And I know some people are dog people, but I do not want your smelly dog coming over when I'm eating and sitting right next to me. It was off putting before we'd even...
