Went for breakfast and ordered scrambled eggs on sourdough bread and a oatmeal latte decaf coffee. Breakfast was £7.95 (I would expect and can get a decent full breakfast at that price!) The coffee was £3.95 and was awful. It tasted like it had been made with water and a drop of oatmeal milk - not a latte. When bill arrived my friends had been charged £1.50 for an egg on their already very expensive sausage cob. I was also shocked to see I had been charged an extra 40p and 20p supposedly for the different milk and decaf coffee? I've never heard of anything so ridiculous in any cafe I have used. Luckily because no staff came and asked if we wanted any more drinks (not good service) we weren't ripped off anymore. Pot of tea £4.95! When we questioned the bill we were told quite rudely by Amelia 'it isn't wrong'. We will NOT be using this cafe again. Very overpriced and awful coffee. Oh and as they were being so picky I wish I had pointed out I should have got two slices of toast and only got one, at their rates that should have taken at least £5 of my bill! There are much nicer cafe's around the area that serve lovely coffee and are...
Read moreHave been here lots of times food very good and value for money staff pleasant and helpful and in the past ive have always expected a wait. This time however was an exceptionally log wait ....not sure why as we only ordered 3 coffees and 3 prices of cake.... which the cake didn't even need to be sliced as they were already portioned up!
It appears that every thing is done by ticket order so instead of getting the quicker orders out first eg slices of cake (those that don't need cooking and would only take 5 minutes ) you have to wait for the cooked orders to be done that were ordered before yours.... Can only guess that's why the wait was so long 🤷?
I also watch the staff as there was not much else to do apart from wait...... some staff stood behind the counter doing nothing. To me it's common sense to get orders that only take 5 mins done and served without having to wait 3 quarters of an hour! Whilst cooked orders for...
Read moreWeve been to Amelia Alice quite a few times since they opened but unfortunately the last 2 times have been disappointing.
Today we dropped in for lunch and had soup and a sandwich each. We waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive. The sandwich was lovely but the soup (Brocolli & Stilton) was far too strong with stilton to even taste any brocolli and I had to leave mine. Despite the couple on the next table to us asking about the soup and my comment to them of how overpowering it was in front of one of the waitresses who overheard the conversation, not one of the staff asked us how our meal was. Not being the type of person who would blatantly blurt it out in front of a restaurant of diners, we left after paying with not a pleasant experience. The time before this again the time we had to wait for our food was also long. I used to recommend this place to my girl friends but for me I will not be doing...
