We ordered the mushroom rice, veg starter platter, aloo gobi, coconut naan, and kerala chicken curry for delivery, and have just finished our meal now.
On first impression, it came very quickly, the delivery driver checked our code to make sure it was the correct order and house, and the bag and packaging were great. We thought they’d forgotten the bread though, as there were only mid sized boxes in the bag.
On opening the boxes, our 6 starters and bread were in two boxes, and the rice and two curries in usual sized boxes. My kerala chicken curry looked quite runny at first and took most of the bread to soak up the watery bits before I could get to the solids - there were 3 chunks of bone-in chicken (no mention of bones in the description!), and some sort of semi solid that I’m not sure what it was - could have done with some veg in there to pack it out a bit. The naan was thinner than other places but was very tasty.
My partner says his aloo gobi and rice was tasty but was a very small portion size for the amount we paid.
In all, we paid just over £40 for something which was fine, but we wouldn’t have again. I’ve had tastier, more filling curries from other delivery places and restaurants round Lincoln, but I’m glad we...
Read moreSorry to say I was really disappointed with our first and last visit here, I booked online and appeared to pay £30 deposit, I thought I was paying the restaurant, it transpired I was giving my card details and authorising a third party company to charge me £30 if I didn’t show up for the booking, that was not clear when booking I’m not comfortable with that at all. Who is the company and where are my card details now, the staff didn’t seem to know the process or how it worked as 3 of them spoke to me about it. I’ve never known this process before I expected to see my £30 deducted from the bill. Feels off. The menu is not as you’d expect I didn’t feel there was much choice of dishes, I had lamb rogan Josh, some bits of lamb were tender some were not, I’m sorry to say the flavours were no better than a microwave rogan Josh with barely any spice more of a stew, the rice was nice that’s as far as it went. 3 people in total waited the table one was friendly one was plain miserable with zero personality. We were all uninspired by the food and the staff. Shame as it’s decorated nicely and is a good...
Read moreWonderful to have an Indian Restaurant in Hykeham again. When we saw it had opened we wanted to support it but had slight reservations as it is Keralan food as opposed to your familiar Indian fayre. However, walking in is a pleasure. Warm decoration, very comfortable and superb staff put us at ease along with another party who were raving about the meal they had just finished. We chose 4 different dishes. The Red Karala Fish Curry- juicy white fish. Spicy. Lovely. Syrian Christian Stew. Less tangy as this person is very cautious with heat but she loved it. The goat curry only had a few large bones and the juicy meat just fell off it and the Kerala Beef Curry was Pretty warm with amazing flavour. All 4 dishes had loads of meat and loads of sauce. Perfect. Poppadoms were incredibly crispy. Only downside was maybe the paratha(kerala and coconut) which did seem small and pricy compared to the naan we are used to. Overall thought absolutely brilliant and we will definitely be going back and hope it continues to be there for a long time in the...
