We've been here a few times and the food is definitely delicious. It's a modern restaurant that's really big on design colour and feels like an exciting dining experience. The available cocktails are also part of the theatre of the whole thing. On my last visit I'd have given 5 stars, on my latest visit I'd have given 3 stars. On both occasions the food was impeccable. Both times I've had the amazing Vegano (sharing) platter all to myself. The Kale is somehow delicious and I don't normally like kale. The picture illustrates everything you get and it's well worth the price. Unfortunately, thanks to my latest visit, I think the staffing needs bolstering or the restaurant management needs to work out quite what level of custom it can deal with. We arrived at 6:45 for our meal and waited 50 to 55 minutes before any food was put in front of us. I could see this was happening elsewhere in the restaurant too. We also ordered more drinks when the food arrived and they didn't come until the food was almost finished. At that point, the drink was handed over and we were told that the table was booked for another couple in 10 minutes, so would we mind being quick?! That ruled out any chance of dessert. I'd still go back. The food really is worth it and the staff are friendly, I don't necessarily think it's their fault if there are more bookings than they can cope with. It's testament to how good the place is that I still give 4 stars. I just hope they rectify the problems before our next visit.

We went as a family of four. The restaurant has a pleasant relaxed atmosphere with a strong Mexican feel to the interior and the music had an upbeat party vibe. We shared the loaded nachos to start which was delicious. I had the naked El Jefe burrito bowl for my mains with a side of carnitas fries to share. The dish was lovely, great pork. A naked burrito is when they replace the tortilla bread with more salad. I kind of thought there might be something else to replace the tortilla bread like lettuce or tomato for example, but I think I might have just got more onion and fresh coriander mix. So there was a lot of raw onion. Perhaps this is just the Mexican way? Other mains order by my family included the Mar y tierra naked burrito, the El Jefe burrito wrap and the Tijuana burrito wrap. Unfortunately my daughter was not able to eat the Tijuana burrito wrap because it was too spicy for her. We didn't realize it would be so spicy because there is no indication on the menu and when we asked the waitress, she said she will ask for any spicy sauce to be omitted. The rest of my family loved their dishes. I also ordered 2 cocktails, a pinocolada and a shields sunrise. Both were lovely, but the pinocolada was so good, I could order it by the bucket full 😏😋😂. We all had churros to finish which were great. Due to the fun atmosphere, this is a place I would consider revisiting. Next time, I would just have to make sure to ask the waitress for the least spicy dish for my daughter.

If you're looking for an authentic taste of Mexico, look no further than LoboRojo in Tynemouth. This cozy eatery is a hidden gem, serving up some of the most delicious and flavourful Mexican street food in the area. The menu at LoboRojo is a real treat for foodies. The dishes are all made with fresh and authentic ingredients, with an emphasis on bold flavours and spices. From classic tacos and burritos to more exotic dishes, there's something to suit every taste and preference. But what really sets LoboRojo apart is the staff. The team is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every customer feel like a part of the family. They're happy to offer recommendations and answer any questions you might have about the food, and they're always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience. The atmosphere at LoboRojo is also worth mentioning. The cozy interior is decorated with colourful Mexican artwork, and there's a real sense of warmth and community in the air. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a delicious meal with friends or family. Overall, LoboRojo is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Mexican food. The staff are perfect, the atmosphere is inviting, and the flavors are out of this world. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just looking for something new to try, you won't be disappointed by LoboRojo in Tynemouth.

This might sound all bit too negative but I just want to start off by saying I did enjoy my food and it was a nice to place to eat.

Food was great except they use so much parsley and coriander and other herbs as such that all the meals are just swallowed by that. Everything was fresh and nice though and didn’t take too long to get to the table. However most of the staff would stand at the bar and ignore us and the people next to us. When we first sat down the girl who greeted us then went and started making and serving drinks and then finally sat us down which was slightly awkward cause why would you greet us and ask how many of us for a table and then go do other jobs? It wasn’t that much of a deal until she sat us down and then forgot about us for ten minutes without any menus. Didn't prep table either.. Super awkward until one lady came over and said oh I’m sorry I thought you ordered you should’ve got menus. Ordering was fine, and receiving the food was good. But kept noticing the lad next to us was ignored throughout our whole meal without a drink or a menu. No one did a check back so I couldn’t get any Mayo. As someone that is quite shy it is hard to just raise your hand and get someone’s attention so I didn’t really help myself. The service charge was 12.5% which they automatically put on, unless you ask them to take it off, which I think is really cheeky. You feel embarrassed to ask for them to take it off. We don’t live in America we shouldn’t have to pay tip and feel obliged to. You pay the wages not me. Although I sound fairly negative in this post I did like the food and atmosphere but I would just be wary the...

Some good things and some terrible things. I would describe the food here as the British version of the American version of Mexican food.

We tried this today. I'm Mexican from California and my husband has lived in Texas and California. We had high hopes for this place based on the great reviews, but it was very mixed.

The good: The salsas were fresh and had good flavor. We had about 4 different ones. They could be a lot spicier, but they were very fresh and had good flavor. My husband had the tuna tostadas, and they were great. They saved the meal. There's a good amount of tuna.

The bad: I had the fish tacos, and the fish was very good, but they weren't spicy enough. The worst thing: the tortillas for all our tacos weren't cooked all the way. The masa was gummy in the center. It doesn't matter how good the filling is if the tortilla isn't cooked.

He also had the chicken mole tacos. Unfortunately, they were the worst tacos he's ever had. The menu says they're made of chicken IN mole, but the filling was bland shredded chicken with some overly sweet mole on top. That, plus the gummy tortillas, was a huge disappointment.

It would ne nice to be able to get two carne asada tacos instead of only the DIY option. They're some of the most common and popular tacos, so it's kind of strange to have to buy 6 of them.

There's rice and beans in many of the dishes, but there's no option to order them on the side. It would be good to be able to order a taco platter (assuming the tortillas were cooked) with two tacos and rice and beans on the side.

We live in South Shields, so it's an easy trip, but we...
