⸻ 📍 Visit Date: 28/05 – 6:50 PM “How do you do” Quirky windows and eclectic décor gave the venue a unique vibe, but the front entrance/bar area felt a little unsure of its identity, as if it couldn’t quite decide what it wanted to be. The mismatch in theme made it feel slightly disjointed. That said, once inside, the main restaurant absolutely delivers on its quirky, oddball charm. It’s a shame the overflow/dog-friendly section doesn’t carry the same energy. A refresh here to bring it in line with the main space would really elevate the overall experience. On arrival, we headed to the bar and waited to be served. A waitress passed by and acknowledged us, letting us know she’d be right back—then returned shortly after to greet us, which was appreciated. We asked if the venue was dog-friendly—yes, but only in the front section. The food menu offers classic pub favourites, pizza, and even pasta dishes you don’t often see outside of a traditional Italian restaurant, which was a nice touch for those after something a bit different. Our mains were freshly prepared, generously portioned, and presented to a good standard. A big shoutout to Jamie, the waitress who welcomed and served us—friendly, polite, fantastic with our dog 🐕, and genuinely lovely throughout. We didn’t try dessert, but options were priced around £5.50. Toilets were clean and nicely tiled, with quirky, cheeky signs that added to the fun character of the place. However, the male toilet had no toilet paper at all during our visit. ⸻ Overall: This is clearly a well-renovated venue with thoughtful touches in the design and menu. It boasts a lovely view over Tynemouth Bay and feels like it’s still finding its full identity. The main dining area is strong, but the front bar leans more towards a local’s pub feel, likely due to the regulars it attracts. That’s not necessarily a negative—just worth noting depending on the atmosphere you’re after. There’s a lot to like here, and with a few tweaks in consistency, it could really shine across the whole venue.

Rang up to book for today. Said don't come at 12 we are very busy but 12.15 is fine. Got there at 12 to make sure we got parked ok and it was empty! Others started coming in about 12.35 onwards but wasn't overly busy then. Ordered our afternoon tea which we had voucher for was told would be an extra £5 as its bank holiday so I said yeah that's fine. Then was offered two different cocktails to choose from as our voucher was for cocktails aswell as the afternoon tea. Ordered child's meal too which came out about 5 mins after our afternoon tea. Food was basic but lovely. Cheese spread and cucumber sandwich fingers and ham and Pease pudding ones, option of one fruit, cheese or cheese scone which came with margarine not butter, jam and bit of clotted cream. Desserts were macaroon, choc brownie type cake, sponge cake, raspberry cheesecake shot glass, fizzy drink and lollipop. Was nice food and cocktails were ok. View out the window was amazing overlooking the harbour and out to sea one way and up the river the other way. When finished sat there about 5 minutes before getting up to leave to ask for the bill. Went to the bar and the bill was higher than thought it would be. Got told we were paying two for 1 on cocktails, explained they were part of the voucher. Told only one of them cocktails were on that voucher. I said the other guy offered us both. Then the other bloke came to sort bill said we are charging you £5 each extra for bank holiday sitting. At which I asked why we weren't told about this on telephone when booking, he said should read the paperwork. Then I asked why he hadn't said £5 each...he just said when taking the voucher it would be an extra £5. Not each. He just said it's £15 to pay and shoved card machine at me. As soon as card was read he walked off. No thank you, or telling me it had gone through or asked if I wanted card receipt. Really rude service. I won't be going back there to be treat like that, that's for sure!!!

Sorry but this wasn't a good experience especially when they're a lot of good places to eat around the fish Quay and Tynemouth. Went to bar and they said they'd come to table and take drinks order, waited 15 minutes, took drinks order, waited another 15 minutes before drinks were delivered but guy left without giving chance to order food . When we did eventually get food,my mam's was fine,as was mine but my partner's had gambura prawns which had been cooked with the shell on and hadn't been de-veined and eating them was quite messy. We complained and got a couple more but they were exactly the same. We asked for bill and they knocked £2.50 off. Went to pay bill and said it was an insult. Manager went to see owner and knocked another £5 off bill, but owner obviously couldn't be bothered to deal with it. Needless to say we won't be going back, their loss. We were thinking of having small wedding do there. So salty sea dog or quay tap, recommended.

So upon arriving my dad’s seat was very unsteady so asked a younger dark haired waitress to swap, the waitress replied ‘why would you rock your seat’ in a very rude manner! The same waitress also felt the need to tell us multiple times that she ‘finishes in 10 minutes’ as if we were an inconvenience! Upon looking at the menu, we noticed the festive menu and main menu had the same meals on yet the festive menu worked out more expensive even tho they were the exact same meal! My pate starter arrived 2 slabs of pate and 1 small slice of bread, asked for an extra slice and 5mins later they tried taking our plates away after forgetting the extra bread, calamari was overcooked and chewy! Mains arrived and my Dads fish wasn’t cooked properly, batter was pale and soggy! My mams fajitas tasted like pure salt and although the chips were lovely some were hot and some were stone cold, obviously fresh mixed with old! Issues with the bill at the end so asked to speak with manager, a man came from the bar, slammed new bill on table and said ‘I’ve taken that off’ and walked away! I actually used to work within this company a few years ago and can’t believe the way this place treats customers! Would definitely not recommend and certainly will never be back here or any other...
