The Kittiwake — Restaurant in North Tyneside

I've always liked this pub ever since I used to live in Whitley lodge many moons ago. It's still a lovely pub...I was here on the 29th of October 2023 for my daughter's 31st birthday. I drove over and parked in the pubs own car park. I had a lovely 3 hours there before leaving and headed off to work as I was working night shift that night.

I've just received a parking charge for a hundred pounds...apparently I hadn't put my car registration in a machine they have in the bar (I had no idea I had to) I'm expecting another one to come through as my son wanted to test drive my new car so he left in my car then came back in to park in the same space before I eventually left for work.

It's really hard to see this as anything less than a "money grab" and I'm fuming that we as a family spent around a hundred pounds that evening and I'm going to be stung for another...

My husband and I have been here a few times and we were both very impressed. The staff are lovely and friendly very welcoming they have always checked if the food is ok did we need anything else ie sauces or more gravy and then enjoy. We have had the Sunday lunch a few times and have tried the beef, turkey & gammon, and the pork with the crispy bits very yummy.Enjoy we did every time we have been the food been wonderful cooked perfectly. You get a good portion the meat is not skimped it’s thick enough to be able too taste what you are eating and meat is lovely and tender and you also have a nice choice and the amount of lovely fresh vegetables with a nice gravy not forgetting the Yorkshire pudding. We booked a table as a family in the quiet lounge as my daughter is autistic, and she prefers to be in a smaller space. We ordered Sunday dinners and thankfully they did nuggets and chips for kids so my daughter had that. I am Gluten Free, and haven’t had a good Sunday dinner out for a long time, so was pleased to see the whole menu GF. I wanted the mushroom wellington as I’m veggie too but unfortunately they had just sold the last one. I just had a veg dinner, and it was really lovely. The Yorkshire pudding was the nicest I’ve ever had, it actually tasted like a ‘real’ one. The veg was all nice and gravy lovely. My daughter enjoyed her food too.
