Whitley Lodge Tandoori (Whitley Bay) — Restaurant in North Tyneside

Absolutely appalling service. Avoid at all costs.

In summary, our food was 40 minutes late. It was cold, and the driver dropped it everywhere, leaving the whole order in a complete mess. All of this could be excused as a bad day, however the way we were treated by the supervisor cannot be.

We phoned up to complain and I was called a liar by the supervisor, who then wanted the food back as proof, because he didn't believe me, even though the driver was able to confirm what had happened. He was extremely rude and aggressive, and clearly out of his depth. despite the driver saying that he would return to replace the order with some hot food that hadn't been spilled all over the bag, the supervisor refused to even discuss a refund until the food had been returned, claiming that we were the only one of 50 orders that had experienced a problem that night.

We agreed to give the food back to the driver and whilst we waited for him to arrive, we had to phone a number of times to ask when the driver was coming to collect. I was told that he would arrive whenever he was available. The supervisor then called me back to pull me up on my complaint. He tried to persistently talk over me and told me I was acting like a child. After we hung up on him twice for being rude and abusive, this supervisor then proceeded to text me several times in an attempt to continue the argument.

We were highly insulted at the level of rudeness and persistent attempts to contact me.

The driver who came to collect the food was a really nice bloke who fully agreed that the supervisor in question was excessively rude and out of order, having had his own experiences by the sound of it.

After all this, when the food was returned. the supervisor texted me again to say that he would "except the refund." We await payment and wonder how long this business will be driven into the ground by an incompetent and...

I can’t remember when the last time I had a good Indian takeaway until trying the best at Whitley lodge tandoori! There are lovely meat and vegetarian options, great starters to choose from and even better the staff are nice and friendly!

I definitely have an unhealthy obsession of ordering once or twice a week. Even when I’m trying to be good with my diet 😅. It’s protein and good stuff though.

Everything on the menu is flavoursome and aromatic, and once the foods been delivered I honestly start salivating.

Delivery and customer service I cannot fault. Staff are friendly and work quick to prepare your meals as soon as they can. Which comes down to the delivery, whether early, on time or 10 mins late, it is understandable, you cannot have great food without putting time into it. I can say the food and customer service always makes up for any mishaps, although I’ve never had any at all!

Staying at the park dean caravan resort and called to see if delivery possible, couldn't have been any more helpful over the phone, tried ordering online but wouldn't accept the 5 course special so called up, took order details over the phone and 34 minutes later, delivery arrived at reception. Food was outstanding, possibly the best rogan josh I have ever tasted, and there has been many, the tandori lamb was amazing, naan bread was soft,.fluffy and full.of garlic, 2 starters, 5 course special, rice amd naan, all for 40 quid was well worth it, I would even travel tbe 3 hours from home to have this induan,...
