Been a regular customer here for about 5 or 6 years and have always enjoyed a nice meal here, but upon our visit tonight we will definitely not be back.
Ordered the Large BBQ chicken wings as usual to share as a starter between 3, despite the over £1 price increase and no longer includes the blue cheese dip. Wings were nice to be fair but smaller portion (7 wings) than normal and missing the dip as already stated.
Mixed Grill now up to £25.99!!!!! Steak with it was more fat than meat and the chicken was a solid dry puck that had been waaay overcooked, waitress asked was I not hungry when picking my plate up and I told her I was starving but the food was not eatable, she even commented that the steak in latest delivery was mostly fat and she wouldn't even eat it! Also now comes with sugar snaps, not sure why this is paired with a mixed grill???? Makes no sense what so ever and comes over as a very confused addition to the menu.
10oz Sirloin now up to £22.99, ordered rare and come well done, guessing someone forgot to lift it off the grill in time, again more fat than meat. This dish now also strangely comes with sugar snaps???? Does not pair at all with the meal, we all like them, just not with a steak lol, mushrooms and onions yes but why sugar snaps????
Daughter had the ribs and piri piri chicken, her ribs were lovely and she really enjoyed them, the wife and I were sad we never got them too after our let downs with meals, but the piri piri chicken was dreadfull. Overcooked and dried out to a state which resembled chewing a leather belt, and not actually piri piri chicken, it was just covered in a spicy sauce that did not resemble piri piri at all which she normally loves. It was more like Franks red hot sauce with pepper added, not a nice dry rub or marinade. Also price has been hiked up from £17.99 to £22.99
Sad times with massive price increases!
We usually visit here once a month every month with the exception of last month due to illness, new menu and prices are outrageous given the drop in quality of food and new items which don't match the meals.
I highly doubt anyone will get back to us to resolve this issue but if they do I will update this post to advise. In the meantime I would suggest go somewhere else until quality of food increases to its...
Read moreAs I live in Larne but don't drive dining here is a treat for me. My daughter was down and asked where I wanted to go and there was no hesitation 'Brooklyn Bay Diner' please. It takes a bit for your eyes to adjust from the outside to the interior and you have to sort of blink because it's not what you would imagine. It's fabulous 👌 seeing the inside and as soon as you walk in the door the staff are very attentive leading you to one of the multitude of booths you can go to. I'm sure if a booth is not to your choice just speak up and they will place you elsewhere. Everything is so clean from the tables, booths, cutlery, condiments, dishes etc As soon as a customer leaves the establishment their table is cleared and disinfected. I must say the gentleman who served us couldn't have been any more professional, courteous and friendly with not being over the top. It's like Goldilocks the staff get it just right. I, of course, got my tea that came in a big pot (it was showing a little tiredness being chipped though)extra milk and I actually forgot how many cups I got for only £1.99 plus a biscuit. It was a thoroughly enjoyable cuppa, I must say. My daughter had asked me before we went if they would allow you in if you just wanted to go for tea. Well we didn't just have tea, in the end, like so many you settle in and the ambiance, spaciousness, menus, friendliness of the staff and for many other reasons, that regular diners know about, you end up wanting to experience it a little longer while enjoying the food, beverages and company. A little slice of America in our wee Larne Town, definitely a place for a catch up with friends, informal meetings, chats, whether as a couple, group, family or just yourself and I am positive you can call in just for a cup of tea when you're doing your...
Read moreBy my troth, what a lamentable venture it was to visit the so-called "Brooklyn Bay Diner"! Verily, I arrived with great hope and anticipation, yet left with naught but regret and the bitter taste of disappointment.
I, with all due respect and caution, ordered the Mexican burrito, a dish whose promise was as grand as the halls of Valhalla, yet it delivered a culinary experience most foul. The rice, alas! It was burnt to such an extent that it would have been better suited to the hearth rather than my plate. It had a most wretched consistency, akin to mash’d potatoes—an affront to all that is sacred in the realm of sustenance. This most vile creation threatened to turn my stomach and shake my very belief in the culinary arts.
As for my dear companion, she, in her infinite wisdom, chose the sweet chilli sizzler. A grand name, indeed! But the reality, alas, was nothing more than humble chicken goujons drenched in a sauce that bore no resemblance to the fiery sweetness of true chilli. The batter surrounding these meager morsels was thick as the finest of shields, and so cloying as to make one ponder whether one had mistakenly dined in the kingdom of greasy folly rather than a place of nourishment.
And let us not forget the orange juice, which I dared to sip in a moment of weakness. Aye, it tasted as though it had been forgotten for many a moon and left to sour, turning the very nectar of life into a pale imitation of its former glory.
In conclusion, I must declare that my visit to Brooklyn Bay Diner was a disaster most foul, the likes of which I pray I never encounter again. Mayhaps they shall learn to heed the cries of disappointed patrons, or mayhaps they will continue their descent into...
