Unfortunately a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience from start to finish. I had a table booked for 6 people, when we arrived we were placed at 2 small tables beside the door to the kitchen. The restaurant was practically empty. We asked if we could change tables and were told by a lady with short dark hair (possibly a supervisor) that these were the tables they used to seat 6 people. No offer whatsoever to move us. After persisting with our request we were told we could sit wherever we wanted. We placed an order for a bottle of house white and house rose. On opening the bottle of white we discovered it was Chardonnay which none of us really like. We tried to drink it and even ordered soda water to mix with it but it was very unpleasant. We decided to order different wine and when the waitress took the order we mentioned that we were surprised the house white was Chardonnay. She went away to discuss this with the supervisor (with the short dark hair). Unfortunately they did this at the bar within earshot of us and made an uncomfortable situation much worse. She came to our table to tell us that we should’ve ordered Sauvignon Blanc if that’s what we had wanted. And anyway, we had already drunk half of the bottle… I lifted the bottle out of the cooler to show we had drank 1/4 of it some of which was still in our glass. She VERY reluctantly changed the wine. I’m also sorry to say that the food wasn’t great. The daubes of beef were very dry and we had to ask for more gravy. The fish and chips was mostly batter. On a positive note the champ was lovely and the fish special and salmon dishes were very good. After speaking to a few other people about our experience, it would seem that quite a few people have had similar issues with the attitude of the supervisor. We all agreed though that the majority of the other waiting staff were very pleasant. It’s such a pity that our lunch was ruined by the attitude of one person. The restaurant is lovely and we probably would’ve returned to try something else on the menu. But we all decided that we would feel too uncomfortable to return and risk receiving the...
Read moreI ended up recently at the Olderfleet bar & lounge in Larne. I hadn't been in since they had a reburbishment but I'm glad I took my daughter when she was down for the day. A very spacious dining area and the staff couldn't be more helpful, attentive and professional. As soon as we walked through the door we were directed to a table, settled down and asked if we wanted to order any drinks. Well you know me it had to be a cuppa. A wide variety of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks are available. Immaculately clean tables, floors, cutlery etc Pop into the toilets and you think you are in a high end establishment in London. The cleaner should get a pay rise. For your meal there are loads to choose from starters, small plates, mains and reasonably priced. Daily specials are also on offer. My tea was lovely and I got about 1 and a half cups out of the pot. I didn't actually have to ask for more milk as the wee jug was quite sufficient. Loads of room for wheelchair access. Sorry there are no pictures of the food because when it came I forgot to take a photo as the plate full of succulent chicken just made me want to tuck...
Read moreBooked for 4 adults and 2 kids. We were given a high table which is unsafe for 2 toddlers. It seemed like a hassle for the waitress to move us to another table. About 20mins later another waitress told us that we only had the table for 2 hrs. We hadn't even ordered at this point. So we ordered the breads to begin with while we decided what to have as main. The waitress came back and pretty much reprimanded us for not ordering our mains and abruptly reminded us again that the table is needed at 8pm. We gave our order and waited about 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Whilst it was tasty we didn't enjoy the experience. The steak came without the peppercorn sauce and tomato. 8pm came and no-one was rushing us out. There were also a number of tables vacant. We had driven 45mins to this restaurant and the best bit was seeing a ship set sail. The restaurant itself was clean, neat and somewhat inviting. Free parking at the back. The bar tender and other staff were polite and friendly. I recommend the food as we all thought it was tasty, just the service of a waitress spoilt it for us. Unfortunately we will not...
