Went in last night for dinner for the family. Fish and chips. The fish was cold. A bacon, cheese fillet burger. No bacon. No cheese. Chips with all meals were rank. No flavour and am odd texture. Asked for salt and vinegar on everything except a sausage supper that was also ordered. Nothing got salt and vinegar EXCEPT the sausage supper that got salt. In fairness the last was my fault as I've noticed previously that the staff pay no attention to whether you want salt and vinegar or not. They proudly advertise that they've won awards for staff training. Lol. The price list advertises two different prices for the same dish. (goujon meal £6.95 & £7.20).Winning awards at UK wide competitions? Not even the best chip shop in Carryduff.
ADDENDUM 14/05/2019 After the most insincere apology I've ever read (no-one else has complained...the staff think the food is wonderful...), I did, as offered, email directly in with more details and reasons why I didn't return the food (in short, it was late), as well as going into further details. That was 1 week ago today and, as of this moment, I've had no response. The only explanation I can think of is that they checked the CCTV and realised that I was, actually, telling the truth! Look, I'm not begging for free fish suppers or whatever, what I want is for you to recognise that I am raising genuine issues and that you are putting changes into place to rectify them. Then I can go back to enjoying your food again...
Read moreYesterday evening 27th Aug we phoned in for a small order to collect at 18:56, the member of staff took the order and called it back correctly. It was not busy when we collected. When we got home none of the dips we ordered and payed for were included. I tried to ring back at 19:20 when I got home but there was answer. Normally, I fully understand that these things occasionally happen and put it down to various reasons, being busy etc.
However I have had this type of experience more often than not recently with John Dory's. Some of which include:
Ordering a chicken burger, but getting a beef burger (after confirming the order 3 times at the till!) Again, a chicken burger was ordered that came smothered in red sauce. Taco chip where the mince was completely burnt. More annoyingly the member of staff knew this was burnt from the smell and look of it (I returned this at the time and got a not too convincing apology). To my disbelief the same thing happened a week later!
I see previous reviewers have expressed the same issues with missing items / wrong orders. I'm curious if JD are taking the feedback seriously enough to implement additional measures of checking of orders before they go out. Until they do, I would strongly advise any customers to check your order before you leave.
Very disappointing, I know the odd human error is expected, but I am yet to have a positive experience in my last several visits. So for that reason I will...
Read moreWe really like John Dorys as it does gluten free options which we need. The food is almost always very good (occasionally the goujons are very small or really overdone). However, the app is a nuisance. You are pushed to order in the app, and get a tenth meal free - but when you try to order your tenth meal you can't enter the code they give you if the order is £25, as the app automatically applies £5 off as a family offer and you then can't enter your code for £30 or whatever. You can't take the family offer off. So frustrating. I have told the staff several times and they've been lovely about it, have taken my number and said they get someone to call me. No one ever has though. The codes have a use by date so I've lost all over £100 on offers that their own system stops me using. Must happen to others too. Today the app isn't allowing me to order any gluten free 'meals' or 'house favourites'. I've had to phone through instead - I explained about the app and they are aware of issues - I asked if the family discount at least could be added but told no, only if using the app!! So frustrating, but it's the only takeaway we can get for our family due to food allergies. I really think I've had enough of the broken systems at this point though. Just looked back and we spend (embarrassingly!) £600...
