If you have an allergy, avoid at all costs!
Made them aware I cannot have any alcohol whatsoever. They served me food with red wine gravy. I asked to talk to a manager and was told that would be Ellie Richards. The manager didn't come and talk to me, but instead talked to other members of the party. Waited for a couple of hours. When I pointed this out she did eventually come and talk to me and asked "what I wanted" when she was very clear of the situation. She accused me of shouting at her when I did nothing of the sort, I may have raised my voice a little because it was very loud and busy, and I was frustrated as I had been served something I cannot ingest through sheer negligence. Was not given a full apology, was just told "well I've said sorry, what else do you want me to do" And got told she didn't think it was that serious. She told me she forgot to tell the kitchen about it. And then tried to tell me the food I had didn't have alcohol in anyway, even though it literally did.
I have a serious medical condition and auto immune condition where I have a strong intolerance to alcohol so CANNOT have it for medical reasons. I almost vomited numerous times and have been left in constant physical pain, with constant nausea that is still going strong several hours later, and will continue into the night.
They did re-make my food, which took about 25 minutes, by which point the rest of the party had finished their food. The replacement food was also very, very salty and different to the plate I had before with a different filling in the pie. At this point my medical issue meant that I could not eat anyway as I was in too much pain and felt far too sick.
This was handled abysmally, and I am furious. It wasn't taken seriously at all even when I pointed out that they could have killed someone with a mistake like that. Her attitude and her accusing me of shouting at her, while she played down my medical condition made me cry. Straight up negligence, and a very, very rude and disrespectful response. I guess I'm lucky my intolerance won't kill me or put me in the hospital. This could have been a lot, lot worse. If you have an allergy, or like a manager that is polite with a good attitude, avoid this place like the plague. Oh, we also pre-booked food plenty of time in advance and when we got there they had changed the menu without telling anyone so everyone's food was different to what they ordered. Despite them doing this, while knowing they had a pre-booked table, they didn't make sure that the food was made with allergies and intolerances in mind.
We also needed a wheelchair ramp for the step to get in, and it appeared the staff didn't really know how to use it. it took them 3 fumbled attempts to try and put it in place.
Absolute shambles and I will be reporting this to trading standards. Someone is going to get poisoned or killed unless they drastically...
Read moreProbably the worst lunch in Norwich for those compiling diaries Arrived for a 5:25 table told last orders to kitchen were at 6pm. Were advised that Lamb had sold out.. all 6 of us then ordered from the remaining Roast options. After a significant wait our meals arrived!!.. all had cold and tough Yorkshire puddings certainly cooked for earlier service times, undercooked (raw) broccoli, roast potatoes dry and ranging from black to cremated.. beef inedible as well unchewable. All in all a disaster , so clearly obvious that the last table were offered the left overs and food that had been held for sometime … if late bookings are to be served such food then it is unacceptable to offer tables at these times. Servers were called to complain and it was offered that replacements could only be ‘ what could rustled up by the chef’ we all declined and then were told that the house would buy us a round of drinks but charged for 2 plates as they had been consumed.. yes they had been tasted and edible items such as carrots were eaten. We informed the server that we would leave without paying for any food items.. but would pay for the 2 rounds of drinks.£37.50.. he returned with a petulant attitude , withdrew the free round offer and literally threw the bill on the table. We left having rounded up our drinks bill to £39.00, had no goodbye or apologies.. other than a crass comment about the party ‘not being for the weavers’ I am can confirm that we will not return to the pub again or to another where £17 per roast is charged whether edible or not. Overall a horrible experience.. pleased do not book or at least on booking ask what is the best time to have a roast...
Read moreAfter being highly recommended this pub and coming here for drinks after work for months I was highly disappointed by the service of the waiting and bar staff.
We came in 10 minutes before the kitchen closed asking if they were still serving food and asked if they were still serving.
They rushed us to order as quickly as possible. Me and my partner ordered a burger each but they only had 1 bun and I was told it would come with sourdough bread instead.
When the food arrived it was quite literally kings mill with the makings of a burger inside it- the food was still extremely tasty and well cooked and all my friends were happy with the quality.
However, when paying, after dealing with rude staff when ordering, I asked if they would consider taking some off the bill for the kings mill bread as it was a bit disappointing. The bloke was perfectly polite and went to ask his management and came back and informed me I ordered it that way so it wasn’t possible- whilst I was in the process of politely explaining we were rushed to order and that I didn’t have time to choose another option, his manager came over.
She was extremely rude, took an absolutely awful tone saying she had explained to me how it would come and asked if I was petty enough to want £2 off my meal, belittling and patronising me.
Despite the food being good quality and the atmosphere being great, I do not expect to be treated this way when our table had spent upwards of £150.
If it’s too late to order food and the kitchen is closing say so, alternatively, if you decide to serve people; treat them like you would any other customer and not like they’ve inconvenienced your...
