So disappointed. We have been visiting this restaurant for nearly twenty years albeit only once a year to celebrate our wedding anniversary as a special treat as it is pricier than most Indian restaurants in the area but was always worth the extra due to the excellent quality and taste of the food and the warm welcome received from the owner. We went last night and this restaurant has definitely gone down hill. The place was really cold to the point I ate in my coat as I just couldn't get warm, there were great big spider webs all over the toilet and the toilet seat was loose. The previously extensive menu has been severely reduced down and the food when it arrived was luke warm and average at best. The chicken in my tikka masala was just cubed chicken that was tough as old boots. The previous owner I believe handed over this place a couple of years ago and it has definitely gone down hill since then which is a massive shame. He was there last night and this is the only good thing about our whole experience, he must be horrified at the decline of his excellent restaurants reputation yet he still greets you like old friends and is curtious and welcoming, shame I can't say the same for the rest of the staff we encounter as they all looked like a smile would crack their face!. We will be finding another Indian restaurant to go...
Read moreReally disappointed with this place. We visited the restaurant years ago and remember there being good service and polite staff.
However we spent fifty pounds on a takeout tonight and the curries arrived cold, the masala was extremely tomato heavy similar to a chopped tomato can and my partners curry was rather tasteless.
The garlic and cheese naan was also basic and lacking flavour. We ordered chips which we don't often do as a backup option and they were actually quite nice, it's a shame!
We wouldn't order again, extremely disappointed. However to compliment the bad we did have a good experience in the restaurant previously, and delivery was early and presentation was good in a nice branded box. They added a bar of chocolate and two desserts which was kind of them.
My partner pulled seemingly an entire garlic clove out of her meal. We see good reviews here and genuinely aren't usually picky, but this is a...
Read moreI had been watching football and there was an unexpected knock on the door, my good lady had ordered me a takeaway from SAAGAR, I’m not a Nottingham man and I must say most of the Indian and similar style takeaways I’ve tried have left a bit to be desired, but with SAAGAR, who I only mentioned to my girlfriend because we had a menu/leaflet through the door a couple of days previously, see old style advertising does still work ! , I think I may of found my go to restaurant, the meat was lovely and tender, very very flavoursome, nice amount of heat coming through but not overpowering the flavours, the fish was beautiful and the aubergine paneer was outstanding, I must apologise to the delivery man who was very friendly but because I wasn’t expecting a delivery caught me a bit on the hop and I may of come across slightly unappreciative! Thank you also for the freebies!! I shall...
