Apologies in advance if that will be lengthy review but I hesitated a lot to write this as it is a sum of multiple experiences with this particular restaurant. I visited this restaurant for the first time long time back when it was recently opened with a group of work mates and the food was amazing, the waiters were friendly and approachable. I started recommending it to many of my friends, family and acquaintances and I couldn’t help but notice the feedback coming from certain group of people who have been visiting this place based on my recommendations whom they all agreed the service has not been as expected..the only common thing was that this group of people is that they are all “Arabs”. I thought to myself that this could not be true as I went there myself( I belong to the same ethnic group) and everything was fine. Until, I decided to give it a go with my partner..and unfortunately on multiple occasions, the service was discourteous and quite unpleasant and not on one occasion, I’ve been there with my partner and once again with my brother and another time with a friend and on all of these occasions we have always met by this cold attitude. Examples would be that one time despite us making a reservation, we were asked to leave the restaurant within an hour as the table would be needed..looking around, it was only two tables including our table occupied in the whole restaurant. We were not planning on staying longer though so we did not mind. On a second occasion, we requested for water and we noticed we were the only table who was offered smaller glasses a lot different from all the other tables. At the same time, we noticed that every other table gets a tiny plate ofTurkish delights as a compliment, we did not receive any and I admit me being childish and a huge lover for Turkish delights i requested the waiter to bring me some ( I was happy to pay if needed), the waiter returned with 2 pieces of Turkish delight which was placed on the table for me!!!! I really did not mind all of that and thought in my little mind that this is individual incidents until the last straw hit me. I was there having dinner and naive me requested some Ketchup, the Ketchup came in before the actual meal arrived but that’s fine. In the mean time another customer asked for the ketchup as well, only for the waiter to take it in front of our table without actually saying a word !!!!!!!! Just grabbing the bottle and going again nothing was mentioned from our side, the food arrived and i requested for ketchup again so this time it took them ages to bring it but again fine. I used the ketchup till the same thing happened again and this time from the table across ours who wanted some ketchup as well and same thing happened again, the waiter just grabbed the ketchup handed it to the other table, those lovely couple used it and handed it back to me with them apologizing..I told them they didn’t need to and we kinda laughed about it and brushed it off and when I made a comment about it to the waiter, I was met with a very blunt ( sorry ). I know this all seems like I am a big huge complainer but coming back to the remark made initially by many different groups of friends about the restaurant being ( Arab unfriendly ) place, I think it adds up and make sense to me. I really liked their food quality, portion and prices but unfortunately this place is now out of my options for good as i would never be in a place that I would feel unwelcome based on my ethnicity in this...
Read moreSo the moment we walked in my family could already tell they were understaffed and we had revered a big family table with 2 extra tables. We waited an hour to be told that they have to serve the other table before us, we then waited 15 minutes for them to say we can order drinks and get the complimentary drinks. As the night goes on they keep topping up our bread but without bringing more sauces. We noticed other tables that came after us were getting their orders taken. Then finally we get told that they will order the first 20 of us which was fine everyone slowly got their order taken. I then went to the bathroom and there was no light so I had to use my flashlight, no toilet paper or soap in one of the stalls as well as a dead insect in the sink. I went to the next stall and everything was fine until I wanted to open the door and that door was trapped shut I had to call my mother to come into the bathroom and push the door open. A couple minutes later our food was coming out separately but eventually. Most of the food was alright however my Auntie noticed her lamb was chewy she looked to complain to a staff member but non was to be seen we when she finally was able to talk to our waiter and explain he dislike towards the food and how it wasn’t cooked enough he kept interrupting saying she should’ve said sooner and he can’t do anything about it she complied and said okay. When I finish my food I went to try pay and get a dessert to go because it has been over 2 hours and waiting there wasn’t worth it. The waiter said in 2 minutes he would get back to me… 20 something minutes later my mother had to get up and try find him to pay. My cousins wife food then came out and she immediately tasted it and told the waiter the food is cold and not to her standards because it was cooked poorly and he asked “what do you want me to do about it” in the rudest tone I’ve ever heard. She asked for the plate to be taken back and eventually he did. I’m not sure if this experience was a one time thing because times I’ve been before food and service was incredible but tonight I was very...
Read moreHad a meal with friends. We had starter and a main course each. Portions sizes are amazing for the price, we couldn't find room for a dessert unfortunately. The Atmosphere in the Restaurant was fantastic, it really takes you out of Nottingham back to its Turkish Homeland. You really get sucked into the experience. The staff are also the best I've had the pleasure to be served by. The background music is beautiful and I believe it is traditional Turkish music. I saved my comments on the food till last......and I can say it's easily some of the best food I have ever tasted!!!. Simply mouth watering. You are also given complimentary bread with Taziki, olives and a salsa type dip, so it keeps with the tradition of many European restaurants, at the end as well we were gifted with complimentary coffee liqueur and Turkish Delights, which is one of my favourite treats. The Starters and Mains, I cannot begin to put into words they tasted sooo good. It's not all spice so it's perfect for people who have a preference to a milder palette of tastes. Turquoise is one of, if not the best eating experiences I ever had. Myself and my friends were surprised at just how much we enjoyed it. We had high expectations going in and we left with a knowing it was so much better than we ever perceived. It's on a main road which means parking could be an issue but I say do not let that put you off, you would be missing out on a beautiful eating experience. Congratulations to the Turquoise Team because they have attained such a high standard you won't be disappointed if you choose to dine...
