Wheelhouse — Restaurant in Nottingham

Appalling food and service. Went for a Sunday dinner with my mum and 2 children. Instant mash, frozen veg, chicken breast and gravy that consisted of oxo cubes and water. It was cheap so I can almost accept that. You get what you pay for, but none of the food had been probed before being sent out the kitchen as it was not even warm so deffinalty not up to the required temperature. Front of house staff was all to busy talking to the regulars to come to the table and take an order, we had to ask them to come over after sitting looking for staff for 20mins. Food was brought out and no one came back to do a table check to make sure food was satisfactory and we sat with plates stacked when finished for a good half and hour with members of staff clearly looking over and seeing the table was ready to be cleared and waiting for our dessert order to be taken but no one used there initive to do so and we had to get up and go ask a member of staff to clear the table and take deserts order. The member of staff that came over didn't like our complaint at all and was extremly rude and didn't see an issue with the service or food. I asked for the chef to be sent out so I could take up the food hygiene problems with him and instead the manager came over. He claims to have only been there for 2 days and aware of the shocking staff and says he has been sent to turn the place around so hopefully he's good to his word and sorts the place out because it certainly needs it. He issued a refund on food and gave free desserts but that dosent make up for the shocking food or service and we certainly won't be returning. A few of us went there this evening. I ordered myself and my 2 children meals and drinks..waited an hour and only 2 meals arrived. Waited n waited but still no 3rd meal. Asked a member of staff where it was. Everyone else had their meals. One was not what they ordered but they didnt want to complain so they told me that they would happily get me another replacement but i had to pay!!! I told them i already have but they came back and said its not on the system as ordered. Id past it by then so didnt bother as everyone else had finished. My friend ordered 2 sundaes for her kids n an hour later stil no ice cream. We questioned and it was said theres no order on the system yet she paid for them!!! Poor kiddies waited an hour. We asked to speak to the manager or supervisor but they wouldnt come to us. Felt sorry for the waitress to be honest. Not her fault yet manager never came to apologise. We always goes there but the past 2 times have not been up to standard. New management are not very good. Place was almost empty so no excuse. Plus they charge me full price and not the offer for 2 meals. The supervisor (vicki) was not very polite to customers at all. Bring back the old management. The Wheelhouse, operated under the Greene King brand, offers reliable food and drinks that are served promptly and at an affordable price.

I visited The Wheelhouse with a large group on a weekend, arriving much earlier than our reservation time. The staff were exceptionally accommodating, allowing us to stay and catering to our needs for an extended period.

As with other Greene King venues, I encountered issues with the mobile app. Specifically, when ordering burgers, the app required an upgrade option for fries but only allowed "no" as a response. This forced our group to order directly from the bar. The staff were proactive in addressing the issue, taking a photo of the problem and ensuring our orders were corrected.

The Wheelhouse also offers classic pub activities such as darts and pool, which, though I did not use them, appeared to be in good condition.

Overall, our experience was enjoyable. The venue wasn’t overly noisy, and we had ample space to comfortably wait for the rest of our group. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even allowing us to play a few card games while we waited.
