We'd been here before and enjoyed a meal but on returning a few days ago, it seems the place has gone downhill. After visiting Wollaton Park we decided to go to the Wollaton Pub for lunch. On walking from the pubs car park we were greeted with a sign which said they were not servicing food that day, only drinks. We turned around to walk back to the car but then noticed plates on the outside tables. With that we walked back into the pub to check and were told food was being served and the sign was for another day! After being shown to the table, my 7 year old daughter pointed out how dirty the seat was and then moved onto the remanence of food and crumbs on the table. Obviously this hadn’t been cleaned or if so not very well. Thankfully we carry wipes for my 3 year old so wiped the seat and table ourselves so not to create a fuss but I was annoyed. Deciding what to order I noticed a couple of pies underneath the warmer as we came in which must I thought must of been waiting to go over to someone to enjoy. We ordered two pies and based on how lukewarm they were on arrival, I can only assume these were the two pies I saw when we walked in! My breath was warmer than these but then on tasting it, the main ingredient must have been salt as that’s all you could taste. I was also amazed that for £13.50 all you got was literally a pie and four pieces of tender stem broccoli covered in sauce which must just be to disguise the fact the broccoli had been burnt to hell and taste like charcoal. My daughters had the kids meals and the staff kindly let us change parts of the meal to a more healthy option which was appreciated but when that came out the chicken was over cooked and my daughter unable to cut it. I then struggled myself to cut the chicken up for her and then noticed something catching on my finger from the knife handle. Oh lovely, a hardened crusted piece of old food on the knife handle. It goes without saying and after receiving a bill of £48.00 for such a poor amount and quality of meal, we won’t be eating here again or recommending it.

I visited here for the first time on 20 June 21. My partner and I both ordered the vegetarian Sunday lunch: Butternut squash and sweet potato roast with roast potatoes, bashed swede and carrot mash, savoy cabbage, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Each meal cost £13. There was some slight confusion with the online booking but the Supervisor (the lady with the straight blonde hair and boots) was excellent, she welcomed us and found us a table with zero fuss (thank you!). The app was easy to use for ordering (if you wish to customize your order, simply speak to a staff member). We sat inside and, even though it was very busy, the place is so big, it didn't feel packed. The pub is very comfortable and includes leather sofas. The food was delicious. The vegetarian roast was hearty, the cabbage perfectly cooked, the roast potatoes were super-crunchy and finished with garlic (which worked brilliantly with the rest of the meal). The Yorkshire pudding was perfect, crispy on the outside and velvety in the middle. All credit to the kitchen staff. That they can knock out perfect Sunday lunches to such a large and busy pub is a testament to their skills. Well done. Pro-tip: you have the option to order an extra Yorkshire pudding on the app. Do it! You won't regret it! Also, from what I saw and experienced, the Supervisor is very good at her job. I look forward to visiting again very soon.

Ok.... so here's the thing. This is a pub. It's not a traditional English pub, it's a bar with a higher class attempt of good food. The prices suggest the creme de la creme, as does the decor and the well looked after exterior. Top marks for that, first impressions mean a lot. Then there is the but...... and it's a small but. Sunday roast, swimming in a special gravy and the Yorkshire tasteless. It was all one colour of reddy brown and made it look terrible.... I say it's small, but when it's £14.50 you need to get a sense of its worth... not just quantity. The bass dish looked on the other hand beautiful. However seemed over powered by the Danish blue cheese and lacked the promised element of crushed avocado and honey. As per the menu. Service was great. Louise was very helpful and it was clear to see why the cost was high as there were so many staff.... loads. Advertising for more too....? All in all. A good stop.... but £18 per head for a single course with drink..... load your wallet.

Very poor wouldn’t even give one star.

Had food here yesterday now have food poisoning, food was gross, the service was so poor that we pretty much had to do there job for them. None of the staff wanted to be there, they had as much about them as my little finger.

After waiting to get served for ages we decided to go and order at the bar because we had been out all day and was very hungry. Firstly, they messed up the order when I literally read the order out and he had to put it straight through the till. How that’s possible is beyond me. I asked for 2 starters, 2 mains and a kids meal and he didn’t even realised he’d charged me £30 for all that. When I clicked it wasn’t right I went back in and asked for them to make sure they’d put the right order through- of course they hadn’t.

When the food did come, it didn’t look appetising. We had a roast the gravy looked like it had been sat on the plate for hours and the food was tasteless, dry and pretty awful. By this point of asking for our food and waiting for so long we decided we would just keep it and get on with what we was offered. That was after we’d sat looking at it for ten minutes after being given no cutlery and asking twice for it. The staff when prompted for food didn’t seem to know what they were doing and when I asked about my sons pudding (included in his meal otherwise we wouldn’t of stayed for this!!) after waiting ages for it, I went inside to ask about it and all the staff were too busy watching a football match on to even acknowledge me or realise I was stood waiting.

Very disappointed I rang the pub to complain today due to 4 of us now being poorly and they told us to ring the doctors, no apology, no acceptance of the situation she wanted to go through an investigation form?! What even is this?! You should be disgusted with yourself as the lack in customer service is disgraceful. Working on the customer service industry I would never treat any of my customers in this way. If you usually go to the wollaton like me, I wouldn’t bother because the food is gross and the customer care is even worse. It’s gone very down hill and has no atmosphere. What a shame as it used to be such a nice pub. If you want to go here I would STRONGLY...

13 of us visited last night for a christmas gathering. We booked the buffet instead of traditional meal. We booked for 13 people, NO effort was made with tables, infact just 3 near each other is all I'd say! The lady who was dealing with us never even popped to say hello. The pub wasn't packed ( like I image in summer) but service was slow for 3 staff. We all waited with drinks for our food which did materialise after a bit of a wait BUT no-one actually came to say " your food is ready when you are" it was just behind us on the bar which I feel is a bit rubbish service. We all waited for more to arrive as it didnt seem like much food for 13 people?! Nothing else came, including staff! £10 per head and roughly 1 thing each from the choices?? If I say we all were hungry was an understatement. All feeling disappointed we then had to order chips to actually feel fed. Again chips arrived but no interaction and also not enough plates or sauces offered! In fact everything felt forced! Not very Christmassy celebration at all.

I had 1 Yorkshire pud with beef in gravy ( aunt bessies) 2 slices of mushroom/truffle sausage roll type thing 1 vol au vent with cheese/cranberry 1 slider size sandwich 1 tiny crab cake 2 duck rolls 1 mini scotch egg ( of which they were all halves and only about 8!) Something else was available but I had no clue what it was so declined. 1 tiny salmon thing - which I declined. £130 for this offering was very poor and if service is amazing then you understand a bit more but not on this occasion.

They then tried to charge us for 14 people and also add extra for chips. £5 first till they reduced the bill for 14 people then chips were upped to £15 for a tray. DO NOT GO HERE TO CELEBRATE! Disgusting service and no atmosphere.

If you run a business and want to get customers to return then some polite service costs nothing. Hello, your food is here, can I get you anything else?? Do you have enough plates, would you like some sauces? Was everything okay? Nothing would entice any of us back and as far as a celebration goes - stop offering this as a ' christmas selection ' How deflating to go out for a nice evening and to be met with this! Yes, I have worked in pubs and...
