Honestly, it felt like people learning on the job and doing quite well. They'd picked an easy menu to assemble rather than cook and did it well. The prices are reasonable if not quite cheap really. A pint of San Miguel £5.25, served really cold in a restaurant. What's not to like? We arrived last of our group and we sat there well over 10 minutes before they asked us what we'd like to drink. They'd not bothered to ask the others who'd arrived earlier. The food was nice but not really what you'd call restaurant quality. The sweet potato dish was really good, but the spicy veg felt like a jar of sauce with a few chopped veg dropped in. Nice but yeah ok. Pitta bread was fabulous, honestly deserves a line of its own. Our mains all seemed to be well presented kebab meat like from a chippy. The rice seemed to be microwaved from a pouch however. Could be wrong obviously but the quantity seemed right and it had the tell tale straight edges from the bottom. Still it was OK but seems the fries choice was better. Lastly, where we were sat it was a bit cold as the night was freezing. The door kept opening due to delivery drivers collecting and I ended up putting my coat back on due to the draught.

But yeah, ok food, ok staff but a few learning points. I don't see myself going back but if someone else said let's go there I wouldn't be averse. The empty tables though made me fear for...

Family of 2 adults, a teen and a tween had a very enjoyable Saturday evening here. Wollaton has been crying out for a venue like this and it does not disappoint. Food, drinks and atmosphere were all excellent. Will definitely be returning.

The food was excellent, highlights include: super soft, warm pita (need to know if I could just buy those!), silky smooth humus, the halloumi fries with pomegranate (kids even ate accompanying salad willingly as the sauce was delicious!!), the roasted cauliflower was quickly devoured (next time I may have that to myself rather than a sharing plate) and all the mains (gyros, schnitzel and lamb kebab) were well cooked and complimented by the sauces and salad. Would have been nice to be able to upgrade to sweet potato fries. The mains are large portion sizes so if you enjoy some sharing starters and don't have a huge appetite/younger child then the filled pita is a good alternative (I had this and was glad I did as I couldn't have managed the chips / rice on a main).

The gin and wine options were good, beer was a bit limited but the IPA was very good I'm told. Tween had her 5-a-day in the strawberry cooler and mixed berry smoothie!

Teen would be disappointed if I didn't commend the proprietors on their music selection which we all enjoyed.

Staff were attentive but not over bearing. Lots of attention to detail on the plating...

where do i start , i ordered a takeaway through uber eats mediterranean kebab- pita undercooked, doughy, and soggy, salad brown and wilted, disgusting, wouldn’t serve to a dog. £10.75 mediterranean kebab meal- as above with no pitta, salad brown and wilted, kebab overcooked , side off spicy rice , not spicy but bland , cold and shop bought. £16.95 very small portion. halloumi fries- cold x 5 soggy and bland served on a soggy salad with a bland sauce £8.95 , rip off sweet potato fries 🍟- soggy overcooked and cold £4.85 Total : with uber eats costings £48.78 i’ve got numerous pics of the food , uber eats wasn’t interested in me complaining , so called the restaurant who provided the food , spoke with the supervisor makund , who didn’t have a clue on what to do with my complaint. As the owner is away , he left me on loud speaker to get advice from his staff, which i heard everything, very unprofessional service . I finally got a full refund from uber eats , but the restaurant wasn’t interested whatsoever. I’ve never experienced such unprofessionals, ever . My advice and experience would be give this restaurant a wide berth, well the takeaway service that’s for sure . I really didn’t want to make this review and complain, but you have pissed me off by not speaking with me in person, passing me from pillar to post , and fobbing me...

Zhug is a hidden gem in Nottingham, offering a tantalizing journey through the flavors of the Mediterranean and Middle East. With its focus on delicious pita, this restaurant has quickly become a local favorite. The star of the show, of course, is the pita bread. Freshly baked and served warm, it's the perfect vessel for the restaurant's flavorful fillings. Whether you opt for the classic hummus and falafel or explore more adventurous options like lamb pita or roasted cauliflower, the pita complements every dish beautifully. Beyond the pita, Zhug's menu offers a diverse range of options. From thesmoky sides and satisfying desserts to the vibrant salads and hearty soups, there's something to suit every palate. The flavors are bold and authentic, showcasing the best of Middle Eastern cuisine. The atmosphere at Zhug is warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family. The friendly staff are knowledgeable and passionate about the food, ensuring that you have a memorable dining experience. If you're looking for a taste of the Mediterranean and Middle East in Nottingham, Zhug is a must-visit. With its delicious pita, flavorful dishes, and welcoming atmosphere, it's a true culinary gem.

Really awful experience - I was really looking forward to going but bit was bitterly disappointed. Food did not reflect their instagram posts at all (feel free to cross reference my pictures with their insta) - pitta small and not really Middle Eastern in flavour and the halloumi fries looked rather strange and pale. I asked the owner why the appearance looked white and tasted microwaved : they responded whilst on the phone (clearly disinterested) that ‘it’s because we use gluten free powder’ to which I replied I’ve eaten lots of Middle Eastern food here in the uk and abroad and never has this been an issue, totally dismissed my comments! Reality is it wasn’t fresh. Customer service is terrible also by general staff and owner - really no existent!

Spotted this restaurant on instagram and couldn’t wait to visit.. however the restaurant was chilly and at least half the diners kept their outside jackets on. The food has all the right elements in place - fresh, vibrant, well presented and tasty but the Lebanese chicken within my fluffy pitta albeit cooked was cold, the knafeh rather than the menu’s description of taking 15 mins to arrive, was on the table in 5 mins and instead of the stringy gooeyness portrayed on insta was at minimum lukewarm and had to be cut with a knife.. I can’t speak for everyone but when a service charge is added to my bill it suggests that I should’ve at the least, had a hot meal in a warm restaurant.
