My experience at The Fuzzy Duck left much to be desired. Unfortunately, there were several significant issues that ruined the overall dining experience. I feel compelled to share my honest feedback to help other potential customers make an informed decision.
Firstly, the wait time for our food was unacceptable. We endured an excruciating wait of over two hours before our meals arrived at the table. This long delay not only tested our patience but also affected our overall enjoyment of the evening.
To make matters worse, when the food finally did arrive, some of it was disappointingly dry. It was clear that the quality control was lacking, and it significantly detracted from the flavors and textures we had anticipated - the masala chips were so ridiculously spicy none of my party of 8 could eat them.
Furthermore, what added to the frustration was the lack of acknowledgement or apology from our waiter. Despite the excessively long wait and the dry food, there was no attempt made to address our concerns or offer any reassurance. This lack of customer service left us feeling neglected and unimportant.
To exacerbate the situation, there was no prior warning about a shortage of staff. Had we been informed in advance, we might have adjusted our expectations or chosen a different time to dine. However, the absence of such communication left us feeling blindsided and frustrated.
Another disappointing aspect was the lack of attentiveness when it came to refilling our drinks. Throughout the entire meal, we were not offered more than one drink, which is far below the standard one would expect. This lack of attention to basic customer needs added to the overall dissatisfaction of the experience.
To make matters even worse, half of one of our meals never arrived at the table. It was incredibly disappointing to have a meal incomplete and to be left waiting in anticipation for the missing portion, only to have it never materialise. This lack of attention to detail and failure to fulfill our order was truly unacceptable.
Lastly, the offered compensation of a mere 10% off the bill was far from reasonable. Considering the significant inconveniences we encountered throughout the evening, a more substantial gesture would have been appropriate to demonstrate that the restaurant values its customers' satisfaction.
In conclusion, my visit to The Fuzzy Duck was deeply disappointing. The excessively long wait time, dry food, lack of apology from the waiter, failure to inform us about staff shortage, limited drink service, missing portion of a meal, and an inadequate compensation offer all contributed to an overall unsatisfactory dining experience. I hope that the management takes these concerns seriously and implements improvements to ensure a more enjoyable experience...
Read moreWent for Sunday lunch 3 courses for 15 pound, was wondering how they were managing to do 3 courses for 15 since usually the Sunday lunch alone is around 14 pounds. The pate came on a tea plate, looked very sad and dismal. The prawn cocktail was ok, plenty of prawns but dissapointing in execution (some salad such as cucumber and tomato would have been nice) also advertised with the starters is bakers bread but is actually just dry thin crisp breads, some actual fresh bread would have been nicer. The Sunday lunch was actually lovely and the best part there's nothing I could have faulted as everything tasted lovely and the portion size was just right - probably just some extra gravy is needed. The desserts again left alot to be desired the brownie portion was fine but compared to the old brownie it looked and tasted cheaper. The apple and toffee crumble was a no, it tasted very basic school kitchen and cheap (I've had nicer from a supermarket) I feel like trying to advertise as a 3 course is diminishing the Sunday dinner as the Sunday dinner is such good quality but the other two courses are poor quality and it also feels like Abit of trickery as I wouldn't want to bother with the starter or dessert in future so then I'd just be paying 15 for the roast dinner also with no option of a normal starter/dessert menu. Also on the receipt it shows that apperently the starters and desserts are 7 pounds each, if someone told me they were 7 pounds I'd think they were delusional. If you can't afford to do the 3 courses and execute them well for 15 pounds either charge more and make them better quality and worth it or don't offer it, don't trick people and...
Read moreSo I'd like to say I'd like to visit this place in a less hectic time. We visited today for Christmas Dinner. Was for me and my wife. £80 per person x3 courses.
( No problem paying this on Christmas day poor sods working because we're too lazy to cook for ourselves)
The food was bang on. The beef was cooked with perfection.
Camembert starter was brilliant too.
Food was basically faultless. The venue and decor are fantastic.
Unfortunately what was a let down was the all round service.
We were late seated after turning up well in advance.
The waiting time between course's was very, very frustrating. We was there for 2hrs 30 mins
We were asked by a member of staff if we were waiting for something. ( we were waiting for our pudding )
The service from staff was inconsistent. We weren't sure how to order drinks ( go to bar or ask staff )
I think much organising and service improvements are needed ( maybe being Christmas day was more challenging than normal. So I'm more forgiving )
On the way out we asked if they were OK to serve us a drink. ( Baring in mind a good selection of customers only being served their main we fancied a swift one before leaving )
The answer we were met with was errrrrrrm no not really. We were disappointed as we wanted to try one of the visually appealing cocktails.
It's a place we'd love to visit in normal circumstances to get a better...
