I had high expectations of Rhubarb & Mustard Cafe. The digital presence of this beautiful cafe is A1: the marketing, the reviews, the menu options. Rhubarb and Mustard lives up to the hype and, in my humble opinion, exceed it. The bonkers thing is, the cafe has huge potential. The food & service is some of the best I have recently experienced. The decor is cool too, mixing contemporary and retro styling. All Rhubarb and Mustard needs is a new place to call home. The current, humble space in the Craft Centre is too small. It limits their potential. They need to be open on Sundays. If Rhubarb and Mustard had the Piero Lounge space in the town centre, they would pack it out every weekend. I would be happy to put my hands in my pockets and invest in this amazing business. We need more cafes like this. I want more people to experience amazing food and service that Rhubarb & Mustard Cafe offers.

Absolutely incredible. Will definitely be regular customers from now on. The cafe itself is very nicely decorated and although it was empty when we visited there was still a nice atmosphere. We had the banger dirty eggs and I've been thinking about it ever since, it was beautiful. Great quality ingredients and very well cooked. The portion sizes were great. We had 3 meals between 2 of us because we wanted to try something savoury and something sweet but 1 meal was definitely enough. The staff were lovely! Great service and very good prices. Plenty of parking with wheelchair access. They take cash or card. They had lots of options for different dietary requirements.

Took my best friend here for breakfast as we were searching high and low for something GF friendly. Wow! The GF choices were amazing and pretty much a dream come true tbh. We both went for the dirty eggs.. we could tell they used really good quality ingredients especially the bacon 👌🏽 Service was fast, the lady was very helpful with explaining the menu and very friendly.. the atmosphere is chilled and we loved the feel of the place and overall vibe.. definitely will return thank you

We visited this cafĂŠ with high hopes after being recommended by a friend, but unfortunately our experience was deeply disappointing.

After being told to seat ourselves, we waited 15 minutes with no service. I approached the counter, only to be told someone would come to take our order at the table. After another 15–20 minutes with still no sign of anyone, I returned to the counter and placed our order directly. Meanwhile, customers who arrived well after us had been served, eaten, and left before our order was even taken.

Once we finally ordered, we waited a further 40 minutes before I asked about our food. A couple next to us, who had been seated before we arrived, discovered at that point that their order hadn’t even been started. They ended up leaving after 1 hour 45 minutes with nothing served. We had been there an hour and a half before our food finally arrived.

Sadly, the food itself didn’t redeem the experience. My Banger Eggs were undercooked, scrambled eggs were still runny and while I ate them out of sheer hunger, they were far from enjoyable. My partner’s gluten-free Nutty Nana pancakes were burnt on the bottom and tasted of charcoal, with no sign of the caramelised bananas described on the menu. Staff did offer to remake them, but after such a long wait, we declined. We asked for a refund on the pancakes (£12), but were only refunded £10. By then, we just wanted to leave and get something to eat elsewhere.

Staff were polite when approached, but the service was disorganised and inattentive throughout. Sadly, we won't...

A bit of an anticlimax. Menu says “lunchtime sandwiches” and under this “served with coleslaw and pickle” We ordered 4 sandwiches from this menu and not one had coleslaw or pickle. Not a major problem just a little disappointed. Raised with waitress who advised only some of the sandwiches are served with coleslaw and pickle (the menu doesn’t say this- furthermore, it’s only a black and white print out from a home computer so could easily be amended and made clearer as to which sandwiches come with the sides/ garnishes and which ones don’t. Waitress kindly discounted our bill by not charging for our drinks. 3 of our sandwiches were bacon, Brie and cranberry. One without the cranberry. All 3 came with cranberry. Not a major problem again- these things can be fixed and easily happen. However, when the “new/ fresh” sandwich came out (without the cranberry) it was very clear that it had just been scraped off. This was off putting but also- what if the person were allergic to the cranberry?!? This would be a law suit rather than a review I would imagine. Traces were still in the sandwich. Not very good- amateur. Atmosphere- very hot and humid. Didn’t stay very long as couldn’t stand the heat. The room was full and heaters were on full blast. Speaking of- may want to consider getting covers for the heaters- I had a toddler with me and had to make sure he stayed away because they were so...

Frustrated with my experience here today. We came here a few months ago and had excellent service, food and knowledgeable staff about gluten free food. Firstly, I asked for if the waitress if they serve gluten free sandwiches. She said ‘I think so’. I waited as I didn’t want to question her and seem rude. She said ‘Actually, I’ll have to check’. As a person with coeliac disease, this was worrying that staff don’t know their menu. I ordered a Brie, bacon and cranberry sandwich. It arrived with grated cheese on it and the gf bread had not been toasted. I questioned a different waitress, who was quite despondent. Eventually, she took the plate to the kitchen, brought it back to me and said, ‘ We don’t have Brie’ with no explanation as to why it had just come with grated cheese or even a ‘sorry’. I said that what was listed on their menu was not what I received and she responded, ‘Well, what else do you want then?’ I explained I would have the sandwich but not pay £8 for something I haven’t received. When I went to pay, they had added £1 to a bacon sandwich for the grated cheese and splodge of cranberry. We, unfortunately, after such a great experience the first time around, will not be returning. I wonder if the staff team has completely changed...
