I am upset and appalled that I need to leave this review as I have sent a personal message to Grandpa Greenes Uppermill and not had a response. To place my experience into context we arrived at 430 mid week, there was 1 other party of 2 in the cafe and one family of 3 ordered ice cream at the kiosk. Here is a list of problems I encountered: The front of house had to check with the waitress that our order had been taken. It took 15 minutes to be told one of the flavours of ice cream was not in stock....our alternative flavour was shouted across the cafe several times. It took 20 minutes after ordering for only 4 of the 6 ice creams to arrive and rather than the waitress checking we had everything and that everything was OK she went outside and played on her phone. There was no apology for the delay in getting the ice creams. When the waitress came back in she completely ignored us despite my elderly mum asking where the rest of our order was. Eventually, despite not acknowledging or problem she did go and chase the order. Although there was a comment made about our order being 'I don't really care to be honest'. 30 minutes after ordering the final 2 ice creams arrived with no apology for the delay. The waiter who gave us our bill was also very rude. I spoke to them about the massive discrepancy in the size of the ice creams. ( a single stood tub was larger than a double scoop including the the same flavour as the single which arrived after the double, and the double cones far larger than the tub). The response was it was very busy at the kiosk and they have priority (lie as only one group ordered whilst I was outside) and then it is how much is left (lie as the single scoop.was the same flavour and larger than the double). We then mentioned the poor customer service and experience and the response was 'awh that's a shame'....no apology or anything. The 2 Cappuccinos came almost 10 minutes apart. The first was missing about a fifth of a cup. Neither of them had much froth and they were very weak. I've never had this issue at the Diggle site, they have always been efficient and friendly. The service here was abysmal, the attitude of staff was exceptionally rude and I've never known it take 30 minutes to get some simple ice creams in a...
Read moreWe booked online and were really excited to go having seen all the food on Instagram.
We were sat for 20 minutes before even asked if we could get a drink. We had to flag down the server and asked if we could order.
Iced coffee - AVOID AT ALL COST- it was so watery but we drank anyway because was desperately in need of caffeine.
I ordered a sandwich which was basically bread and mayo for ÂŁ12.
No checkback - again had to flag down the servers to tell them about my meal. When I did the food was taken away and replaced which was appreciated. However I was told they needed to check if I had time to eat the food before I could order something different.
Again, no check back to see if the new dish was ok.
Others I was with asked for the dessert menu as I had only just started eating by the time they had finished, to be told they didnât have time to have desserts and were refused a menu.
We all make the joke that servers approach you with you mouth full. But how about approaching you to pay your bill (that you hadnât yet asked for) whilst tucking into your food?
Another server cleared off the table around me as I was eating, took my napkin.
When I asked for an itemised bill as it was needed for my mystery guest review the receipt came with âcustomer complaintâ under the dish I sent back with my reasoning for retuning the dish. This should not be customer facing.
We left with no goodbye from any of the staff. Terrible experience. Way overhyped, I do...
Read moreReally wanted to enjoy my experience here. We arrived 1.5 hours before closing time (3.30pm when closing was at 5pm) and were discouraged from sitting on the banquette seats. They explained after I asked that they had already been mopped but they eventually said it was OK.
We ordered small plates which were OK. Missing a little flavour but well presented. I love the bowl/plates! We also had to ask twice for tap water despite it not being busy (6 tables, 2 staff).
Whilst we were eating we had the kitchen soundtrack of Disturbia by Rhianna, plus the actual music of the bistro, and had staff mopping around us (despite it still being an hour from closing time at this point).
We were then going to order brownies but were advised they didn't sell them and we could go outside to order them and bring them back in, but at the counter were told we could not take them back inside to eat with our coffees that we hadn't finished.
All in all, the experience left a lot to be desired. As I say, we had high hopes.
Having worked in hospitality myself, other than cleaning between sittings, we wouldn't start to clean down until after customers had left or if they hadn't got the hint that they need to leave. It was just really disappointing and not a...
