The Cake Kitchen — Restaurant in Oldham

This was such a huge disappointment. Got ripped off! I love the cakes and come frequently to this place to get them but this was unacceptable. My partner and I had a really rough week and decided to treat ourselves to some cake. We do live quite far away but it was worth it! A half an hour drive to get some delicious goodness. We came into the shop and ordered 4 takeaway cakes. They had issues with their card machines as usual so I just gave the cashier £14 by cash. Patiently waited for the cakes, got a cake box which was secured with a string. Lady said ,“that’s your cake”. I thanked her and we left. All hyped and excited to finally get the reward we have been waiting for. Got home after a long drive, cut the string securing the cake box, and opened it to find that out of 4 cakes there is only ONE. So I paid for 4 but got only one. If the lady which we ordered the cakes from knew what she is handing over, why didn’t she tell us that there is more ? Why weren’t we stopped when we started heading out? It’s not like we were running. Also, I have not been given a receipt, what business runs like this? Really gutted. I cannot go for another 1 h drive to go back to the shop. And from this experience I am not too sure how I feel about coming back...

This establishment will now be my regular tea shop - absolutely fabulous. Excellent food, décor, service. Spotlessly clean, highly professional staff who work very efficiently in a small space. The staff are young but extremely well trained and are a credit to the owners and themselves - friendly, chatty, customer focused, Totally stress free experience that I will recommend (and have already done so) to friends and family. Afternoon tea is great value for money at £15 pp and all other menu items prepared freshly and served to a high standard. It's about time that somewhere of this calibre opened in a village that is visited by people from all over, a bit of class.

Amazing little set up for afternoon tea. I have visited The Vintage Cupcake Kitchen on 3 occasions. The staff are very friendly and we were served pretty much straight away - so great service! The food was amazing and very tasty. If you cant manage to eat everything they put it in a little box for you and wrap with ribbon. It is a small building and gets booked up quickly so it is always best to book in advance. The location is perfect as it is on the main road leading through Uppermill.
