Muse — Restaurant in Oldham

Muse has always been reliably nice on my visits back to saddleworth, however on my last visit home I brought one of my friends for lunch. He's Muslim, therefore ordered the Caesar salad without bacon. When it first arrived with bacon I sent it back, but then the replacement salad also had bacon in, so of course I sent this back too. The boy serving us then came back holding the salad to tell us the chef was insisting it didn't have bacon in. Not only was this comment delivered with rudeness, it was also embarrassing for my friend- who of course was not going to eat a salad with any trace of bacon. Unfortunately this shows to me not only a lack of consideration for dietary requirements and religious observations, but also suggests the salad had been pre-made, which is understandable but it would have been more professional to tell us this instead of picking out the bacon as it seemed to have been. Myself and my friend travelled from Rochdale to eat here because we had received great reviews but we just didn't have the same experience! We sat in the canopy area, were they put the heaters on because it was noticeably colder in there than the main building. We ordered from the three course Sunday lunch menu! We had a good 40minute wait before our starters arrived and our mains followed fairly promptly after. We then had an hour wait for a dessert which we still didn't recipe because we opted to leave after a table of 8 next to us had voiced complaints about recieving no food in 2 hours, and knowing we would no longer be a priority. At this point both myself and my friend had put our costs back on because we were that cold. There were four members of staff covering food service and they treated us and other customers like they were desperately understaffed. The restaurant wasn't busy enough to warrant a 3 hour lunch sitting without recieving dessert. And we were still charged in full when leaving. Much improvement needed. Very disappointing and...

The food was ok, service was very poor. Sat us in a cold room when tables were available in the other room and were sat next to a party with screaming children. Were not offered a drinks menu nor did they take the food menus once our order was taken. Food took a long time between courses to come out, with the main course taking an hour to come out after the starter. Asked the waitress where our food was and said it was being plated up for it to take another 15 minutes. Were asked if we wanted sauces to which we replied yes, mayo please, this never came. Nobody came over to ask how our meals were throughout our time there or asked if we wanted anymore drinks. Staff seemed very incompetent often on phones or stood talking. Had to sit with coats on while eating meals, not a particularly enjoyable experience. The service really let us down, to pay £50+ for a disappointing meal is disgraceful. Will not...
