Called in for some drinks and a bite to eat as we had gone for a walk along the canal. We have been here before with no issues and therefore returning customers. We sat down outside with our spaniel and waited a good ten minutes before we were given four menus. We chose two skinny latte and two hot chocolate. One with cream and bits on and one without, and two Bakewell pudding. We waited a further fifteen minutes before our order was taken and then waited …. And waited…. And waited. ….my son went inside to see if there was a problem and was told they were on with our order. Then a waitress came out and asked us if the hot chocolate were both with cream and bit etc so we told her our requirements again. A further ten minutes later and our drinks were brought out. My husband and I had the lattes which were cold and my son and daughter in law had the hot chocolate. There was no sign on the Bakewell pudding so we gave up. My husband went in to pay and asked for the manager and was faced with a formidable woman who wanted to know what the problem was and he told her. She looked at the bill and said the Bakewell pudding were on there in an accusing manner . He had to repeat we had not had them and had waited over 45 minutes for four substandard drinks. He asked for a discount and there was no chance !! He then said we would not be returning and apparently that was fine with her!! Awful service and poor coffees....

Update: reducing from 5 stars to 2 as they clearly changed management and the service is SO much worse. The waiter was dismissive with every question I asked her (including the changing in management, which she confirmed). The meal I received this time was acceptable at best. The toasts were totally burnt - as in black on bottom side. We asked them to bring unburned toasts and we didn't even receive an apology. The waiter was also very unpleasant. Won't be coming back.

Went there after a hike through Peak District and the day couldn't have finished in a better way. Although it was after 5pm we were still allowed to take the vegan breakfast (they serve it for the whole day on the weekend) and i couldn't have asked for more! Every single ingredient was delicious. The vegan sausages were veeery tasty. The bread was toasted on pointed and the cappuccino with oat milk was top notch. We finished with 2 amazing vegan cake slices. All together was like 20£, which I think is an amazing price, especially considering the 5* quality of everything. Staff was also very welcoming and there were lovely dogs everywhere. The location is also amazing (by the canal) and the physical café utterly comfy. Will...

Been here quite a few times......a lovely little place to stop off for a bite to eat, and dog friendly too. Never had any cause to 'complain' until yesterday. Not a massive issue, but one I think people need to be aware of, and one Management need to sort out. So, my Wife ordered the sausage breakfast butty, and I ordered the same...with an extra portion of bacon. On arrival, to my surprise, my Wife had 2 sausages (4 x halves) on hers, but I only had 1 x sausage (2 x halves) and my 'extra' bacon!!! How is this right? The waitress couldn't really answer, and just said that's is what they've been "told to do when people order an extra filling"?! So, customers are spending extra ££s for extra fillings, only to be 'shorted' on the original filling?! Fair enough, when I challenged this our bill was reduced just to the standard price of a butty, but I would have been none the wiser if my wife had ordered something different. This is not on, and as I say, Management really need to address this to avoid any more...

Pros: Food was delicious, had the tomatoes and eggs (toms a little blank though) fresh ingredients too, dad had the sausages and really enjoyed them. Had a pistachio latte to start, made really well. Had a lemon and blueberry slice and a huge slice of apple pie both were very good. Cons: Dad had a latte to finish the meal which was made by a different member of staff who made mine and it was rubbish. The staff all seemed put out that people were there and had to serve and we even spoke to another table to agreed they were rude. There were wasps everywhere and a couple of people asked to shut the doors and were told very rudely that "just ignore them". We waited for around 45 mins for our food. We did go again the next week as the food was good, but when we got to the door and the young girl rolled her eyes and said there is no room, we left. There needs to be some attitude adjustments with the young workers here and training on the coffee machine/milk foaming so all beverages have a better standard.

Took a trip down to The Lime Kiln today after deciding which place to brunch at. It was my first time in, my partner had been before. I spied Eggs Benedict (incredibly cheap for £6.95) and was sold rather quickly. I added bacon for an extra £1.95 and the wait was on. We were seated really quickly and a waitress came to take our order in about 10 minutes. It was really busy, so that was more than understandable! Our order was two lattes, Eggs Benedict with bacon, a Cuban sandwich and a portion of skin on fries to share - I also ordered a bottle of diet coke later on, bringing the total to an incredibly fair £29! The food came in about a half hour, coffee came sooner. I was more than happy with what I received. The poached eggs were perfect and golden yoked, the bacon crisp and the hollandaise topped it all off. All in all, for the cost alone, I would return to the Lime Kiln, it's amazing value for money, especially compared to some of Uppermill's more expensive eateries.

Unfortunately this time I found the service to be extremely slow. After waiting for however long for our order to be taken I decided to go and order myself to see 4 girl's standing there behind the servery to be told someone will come up to and take my order. I was with my 2 children and told menus are upstairs ordered from the menu and after waiting for s9 long just for drinks my daughter was bored so asked for colouring and colour to be handed what was a children's menu if I had been handed this in the beginning my children would have been more satisfied with a children's meal. Wasn't fully struck on the burrito it was extrem mushy and a yellow substance ran out half way through eating which unfortunately put me off and the oozing cheese sandwich looked poor for £10 as we added the ham to it. I usually find the service and food extre good here really disappointed on this occasion.
