I enjoyed a wonderful value for money meal recently. Although the steak wasn't as ordered it was good quality and came with the offer of bottomless chips. It was so good to see Sean and the team again from whom I always receive the best service and welcome. One of my favourite places to go for an excellent breakfast too. Always well worth the visit. Thanks Guys!👍🏿 24 July 2023 Unfortunately the venue has severly suffered as a result of a lack of staff. It has badly effected the Bar and dining service. This is such a shame as it's a really lovely venue that runs exceptionally well when in full and functioning mode. Although moral has hit an all time low, I say well done to the staff who are trying their best in such dreadful circumstances. It's about time The Whitbread company address this ongoing situation by respecting their hard working staff members and honouring the customers with the normally good experience we've come to expect and love. 5th and 6th January 2024 I visited twice this weekend and on both occasions I enjoyed great food and service. The new Chef Martizo? Was an absolute wizard in the kitchen. Everyone enjoyed their choices which were cooked to perfection and presented as expected. I'm happy to see such a noticeable improvement on recent months and issues and thoroughly look forward to my next visit. 10/10 *****

Booked into the attached hotel next door and was told we needed to buy a meal deal, which costs £25 each and includes 2 courses with extra charges for larger meals which is expected. Clearly, there are operational issues as the person in front was told they are fully booked but we checked in after him and was able to get a table. The food as per the pictures was not on brand for a beefeater restaurant. I hope the Snr. Management take note of the pictures -if you find this acceptable you need to re-think your image. We had 2 different portion sizes for the same meal (see photos) and the starters (double crisp chicken wings) did not come out as mentioned (no batter). I was told they had been taken off the menu. How was I able to order them? Coleslaw is not 'house slaw' it replicates (if not bought from) a cheap coleslaw found in most large supermarkets. 0 points on presentation!!!! Can't fault the staff, it must be hard for them to be proud of the product and service they provide when such dire care is provided from the company and management.

Disappointed with this. Firstly we weren't allowed to sit in the restaurant as it was fully booked despite all the empty tables we could see. We sat and ordered veggie burger and veggie lasagne in the bar. With 2 soft drinks it came to just under 30 quid. Our order too 27 minutes to arrive despite the place being quiet. The burger was dry and came without the advertised BBQ sauce. The side salad could only be described as limp. The bun was over toasted. We both had triple cooked chips which I am sure we're technically correct but just looked like normal chips and tasted of nothing except maybe a bit of oil. The lasagne was good. Overall not impressed, not worth 30 quid and not worth the wait. Barman was really nice but Daitre D was wearing blue jeans and a casual shirt.

I have only been to this place once while I was travelling. I ordered chicken wings for starters and a small platter of: prawns, calamari, medium sirloin steak and chips for mains. The chicken wings were very tasty and juicy but not very well presented, just floating by themselves on an large empty plate (certainly not like the picture on the menu suggested). The steak was awful: low quality very tough and overcooked. The calamari was very nice, the prawns were good but there was only two pieces !! Overall, portions are small but the taste and flavours are spot on and very enjoyable. But the steak alone was a big let down especially since it's one of the major attraction to this 'beef eater' restaurant. Food took long to come but the waitress was pleasant and helpful.

LOW QUALITY AND VERY EXPENSIVE FOOD Spacious restaurant with friendly staff behind the bar, while the other guy with glasses was rushed in the service going so fast we couldn't ask for anything, our dishes were not at all what we expected, completely different from the advert, and for the the price you pay I would say that it is not fair (the only well-made and slightly good meat was the chicken) the rest like the steak was a shoe sole, the pork without flavor the sausages not well cooked and the "Half" pork ribs the barbecue didn't taste like barbecue just black pepper, not to mention the misery of the rocket a mushroom and two small onion rings, the corn ... it was a joke, we didn't like it and we will never go back
