Update I have revisited the pub with my friend. We went for an early evening meal and we both had burgers and beer. This time the service was far improved and the food was really quite good. The service was almost too much. The staff were really friendly and attentive this time. The burgers were much better than the chicken (I really did not fancy ordering the same food as last time) and the sweet potato fries were fresh and tasty. A much improved experience and I would happily go there again now. Overall, I have given them 4 stars as a balanced review. The management clearly care about standards which is a credit to them. Recommended. I visited the White Horse with a friend for an evening meal and a drink. The booking is easy, the on-line apps etc work fine. Food was and drink were delivered in good time and the drinks tasted good (we had bottled and draught lager). Sadly, the food and service thereafter were disappointing. I had chicken skewers, sweet potato fries and corn-on-the-cob, my friend had 10 battered chicken fingers, salad and sweet potato fries. My second skewer appeared undercooked, the fries appeared tired (like they had been out for too long and dehydrated). The corn-on-the-cob was very watery. The salad the chicken came out on was not very tasty at all. I watched as staff came and went to nearby tables and tried to catch the eye of one of them, to be able to mention the chicken appearing to be undercooked. It was impossible as they did not bother to look around and no-one came to check to make sure everything was satisfactory. Eventually I went to the bar and spoke with a staff member. Someone then came to the table and I explained my concern. They had a look and agreed that the chicken did not look right (it noticed it when after I had bitten in to it, it was the texture that alerted me). I was offered a refund or new skewer, I chose a new skewer as I was hungry, which was brought to me shortly after, with a new dip. It was a bit better. I was told that the chicken comes pre-cooked and they heat it up. This does not bother me, but only if the food is cooked correctly. The beer was good, the fries were tasty and the apps worked well. The prices are really quite good. Of course I was not expecting a gourmet dining experience, but I hoped to have a decent meal. I note that some reviews raise concerns for cleanliness; I did not note anything of concern around this. The service was inattentive and disappointing, the food below par. I have significant experience in management and the service industry, I would have refunded the meal and made sure that the replacement food was bang on. Management of staff is poor as it was not hugely busy at the time and the basics of customer care were missing. A smile, good service, a 'how is your meal today, sir/madam?' and ensuring food is cooked and tasty, are the basic standards to which pub food should be aspiring. Maybe I will go back and give them as second chance, maybe not. I have not decided.

White Horse is my favourite Green King pub, because it is basically still a Hungry Horse. Great menu of unwise proportions and great prices. We had the steak and burger combo. Perfect for when you can't decide between the two. In my opinion the burger was the best by far. A lovely burger, while the steak was a bit too chewy for my liking. My kids ate off the kids menu and loved their dishes too. Toilets are important when you're eating this quantity, and this is a lost star for the White Horse. Men's loos had the choice between loose toilet seat #1, loose toilet seat #2 and the cubicle with not one but two broken locks. While it is nice to have options, I wish there was a fully functioning option. Finally, you get 4 hours of free parking, which is great for the hospital. The best combo of all is a trip to the John Radcliffe to get your high blood pressure examined, followed by a dirty burger down at the White Horse.

Had a burger and chips it was ok skinny chips (which is my personal hate) and in a brioche bun (again a personal hate) would have liked to have a choice of bun proper bread chips were ok till I put the vinegar on yuck cheap and tasted sour but I suppose for £10.10 with a beer you get what you pay for what has happened in this country just want a proper bun and real chips apart from that staff were polite and efficient and the place was clean hence the 3 stars is for them p.s went in on Sunday and had the cheesy chip sandwich bloody marvelous 👌 have now changed to 4 stars fresh bread warm and lovely gravy half hour wait but boy was it worth it 👏👏

*Totally avoid Sunday breakfast.* While the food is decent, service is poor. Coffee sucks, as the machine seemed to be switched on only after the order was made, at 10.30 am. Got cutlery that wasn’t clean enough and when requested for a fresh pair, the staff was trying to justify the condition instead of being apologetic before/after replacing it. There was hardly anyone else and still no value for customer or to make things better. Smelly toilets add to the unpleasant experience. All 3 stars go for the food.

2 stars, the glasses were dirty, the plates were dirty, the cutlery was dirty and the food looked like school food. Soem taps in toilet didnt work, really unkept pub. Don't know if it was just the day but I don't recommend coming here. Other food may be better but DONT GET THE ROAST. The mac n cheese was delicious though.
