My family and I came to this deli for brunch today, unfortunately we will not return. From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left, disappointment was the highlight. Upon arriving I let the male waiter know we had a reservation for 5, he politely took us to the table and just as we were to sit, a female waiter then told us we cannot sit there, but had to sit at another, smaller table which had 1 chair short for the party size we were. Finally being allowed to sit at the original table the waiter seemed frustrated and unable to cope. After about 10 minutes the same female waiter took our drinks order. At this time we asked her about the gluten free options which she pointed out on the menu. I wasn't sure about the contamination of gluten free and have to be absolutely sure so I went to ask the waitress if the items were indeed prepared on separate surfaces and gluten free. The way in which she replied to me was extremely rude and un called for. The waitress advised that "of course, if we say it's gluten free, then it is. Coffee is gluten free, our bacon is gluten free, jam is gluten free." As this waitress went on to argue and even confront me as if my intolerance were a frustration I settled it and advised her it's ok.

When returning to the table, our order was taken. My mother who is vegan, tried to order and this same waitress interrupted her 5 times, as if to try and have her order faster. Furthermore, before we had finished our order she walked away from the table. When food finally arrived, after around 50 minutes, my omelette was dripping in oil. My brothers bacon was rock solid and massively over done and my mother couldn't cut her bread. We were told when checking on the status of our food, it had got forgotten in the lift.

Due to the ongoing issues we had we did not want to complain as this waitress was increasingly rude and we felt very close to walk out. Afyer deciding to stay, I ended up soaking up the oil from my omelette with a serviette! When going to pay, my mother advised the waitress of the problems but instead of apologizing she in return advised that I seemed to think I was too good for the restaurant! I could not believe it.

The owners of this very quaint deli, need to make some staff changes. This is not on and not how you treat paying customers. Not only will I not return, I will not exactly...

I came here for Jacket Potato seeking that comfort food with the cold weather and let down by marks and Spencer’s Queen street who are licensed to serve hot food but serve jackets luke warm and the cheese solid and unmelted because that’s how cool their jackets are. I was ringing around for jacket potato with that craving after 3 pm when most places close their kitchen including this place. However they ever so kindly said that they had one potato left and could cook something up for me.

I like the bright and warm ambiance further inside- natural light and warmth is important especially now as the winter is approaching - almost as important as good comfort food. And boy was I comforted when I saw my jacket potato with load of melted cheese and beans with well cooked soft inside jacket potato and hot even till the last bite ! Finger licking good 😌. The waiters were genuinely shocked mole people warm and lovely that I cannot imagine some of the reviews or the unfortunate soul they came across serving them. After all these years I can’t imagine not having discovered this place sooner. It seems popular with people who want quiet to work and parents who bring their young kids for a treat after school. Shall come...

Asked for a portion of lasagna, hot and to take away. It seemed to be too much for the gent behind the counter huffing and puffing. He then proceeded to warm it up in the microwave while still in the aluminum take away tray. Once he realized the microwave was going to explode he transferred it into a bowl. I then took this away to eat for my lunch and to my surprise the center was stone cold as I had driven back to work I couldn’t return it or eat it, going without lunch. I then realized it was all dripping over my clothes as the microwave had burnt hole in the bottom of the metal tray. Really poor customer service and the chance of giving me food poisoning. Definitely will not be returning. Not cheap either, £11.20 for a portion of lasagne and a small flat white....

Well, popped in with my family for a quick lunch... If you like mayo, this is the place for you...3 of us had a sandwich or ciabatta that had a filling including mayo, unfortunately that turned out to be the main event! The chicken or tuna that accompanied it was the support act. My other daughter who is vegetarian had a piece of chicken in her sandwich! Not ideal. They were apologetic and sorted it, but still... It was overall ok I guess but I don't think I'll be returning any time soon...also probably won't have mayo for a while too.

Impromptu visit as I was in the area and hungry. Lovely friendly lady greated me and pointed to the baguette menu on the wall. I went for the BLT baguette and it was honestly the nicest one I've ever head. Not bad value at just under £6 with a coke, all cooked fresh to order. Will go again when im next in Penarth. Picture is only half, other half in the bag!!
