Hats off first to Mia and Alisha who were running the bar and table service. We visited after the match and had drinks until the kitchen opened at 5. The menu is superb with a fish of the day option. Lots of vegetarian and fish options. Mia and Alisha knew the menu well and could advise on the allergy that one of our group had and explain the veggie and fish options. We had a great table by the front window. The pub looks pretty grim from the outside but the food being served is like something from a five star restaurant. I had fish if the day which was lemon sole, prawns and mussels with mash and wilted greens, green lentils , a tomato sauce and carrots. It could have lost the carrots as they were not required. It tasted like heaven. My friends had chicken Kiev, prawn and mussels linguine and a Korean chicken burger. All top quality dishes beautifully presented and brought to the table. Quality was checked by both ladies at different times. The desserts were amazing. The chocolate pot must be mentioned as being a thing of wonder! And the coconut ice cream needs a mention. I can’t remember the last time I had such good service and such fantastic food and I review a lot of places. Was in town for the football match so not a local just with locals. I would highly recommend this pub.

As long-time visitors, we’ve witnessed many interpretations of the local ‘pub’ and as the current eighteen87, and I must say, this restaurant stands out beautifully. It’s amazing to see the new owners place their interpretations upon such a historical building, blending modernity with tradition. Nestled right by the water in Plymouth, it offers a delightful dining experience that pays homage to its rich history. I recently indulged in the green Thai chicken curry, and it was nothing short of spectacular! The presentation was impeccable, and the flavors were incredible—perfectly balanced with a gentle background spice that made each bite a delight. The portion size was generous, ensuring I left completely satisfied. Beyond the food, the restaurant has truly created a welcoming atmosphere, making it a versatile spot for any occasion. The serene location enhances the experience, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area. If you’re looking for delicious food in a divine setting steeped in history, this is the place to be! Check out my other reviews for authenticity.

Came here for lunch yesterday with my mum after visiting Saltram house at Christmas. Warm welcome from a friendly female, attentive member of staff who showed us to a nice table in the conservatory. Drinks order taken at the table which we enjoyed while we waited for our food. Turkey, brie & cranberry in a nice hot roll with a portion of fries covered in parmesan and truffle. Pleasant background music at a volume to still allowed conversation made a lovely lunchtime visit. Plenty of parking spaces in carpark.

During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of being served by Lucia, and I can honestly say her attentiveness and exceptional service made our entire dining experience fantastic. From the moment we sat down, Lucia welcomed us with a warm smile and an energetic yet calm demeanor that set a great tone for the evening. What really stood out, however, was how dedicated she was to ensuring every little detail of our meal was perfect – especially when it came to something as simple as garlic mayonnaise.

We’re huge fans of garlic mayo, and it’s one of those things that can really elevate a meal for us. When we asked if there was any available, Lucia immediately responded with enthusiasm, as if she completely understood the importance of this humble condiment in making our dining experience just right. We’ve been to restaurants where such requests feel like a burden to the staff, but not with Lucia. She went out of her way to make sure we got exactly what we wanted, even checking with the kitchen multiple times to ensure everything was just as we liked it. Within moments, she returned with the garlic mayo, and it was absolutely spot-on. It was the perfect addition to our meal, thanks to her swift action and dedication to customer satisfaction.

But it didn’t stop there. Throughout our meal, Lucia continued to check in on us, ensuring our drinks were topped up and that we had everything we needed. She managed that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering, which really shows her experience and skill as a server. Every interaction with her felt genuine – she wasn’t just going through the motions of customer service, but genuinely cared that we were having a great time.

Her personality truly shined throughout the evening. Lucia was friendly, conversational, and made sure to take the time to engage with us while still being incredibly efficient. It’s rare to find someone who can multi-task like she did – managing other tables while still making us feel like we were her priority. We could tell that she had a great rapport with the rest of the staff as well, which contributed to the smooth, enjoyable atmosphere of the entire restaurant.

By the end of the night, we couldn’t stop talking about how her service had made our dining experience so special. It’s not just about great food – though that was certainly a part of it – but about how the service elevates the entire meal. Lucia went above and beyond in so many little ways, and it didn’t go unnoticed. It’s clear that she is a real asset to the team, and I can’t wait to return in the hopes of being served by her again.

If you’re dining here, be sure to ask for Lucia – her impeccable service, genuine care for her guests, and attention to detail (garlic mayo included!) will ensure you have a memorable meal. This was truly one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had, and we owe so much of that to Lucia’s exceptional service. Highly...

First time here, never been before when it was the Morley. Nice decor, quite dark but good and cosy, clean as you'd expect. Staff are very good, maybe a hint of being green but thats fine. Was about 1/3 full. Food wise we were a bit disappointed, expecting better. We had 4 starters: Ham hock terrine - was gd and meaty, of the 3 elements on the plate we found it odd that the toast was over charred, as in black all the way through, but we didn't worry as we'd over ordered. Crab and prawn spring rolls with bisque - for me they didn't contain much other than stodge, although the t'other half quite liked them. We both agreed the bisque was not great at all, it was really bitter and over tomatoey whilst being watery. Mussels - the best part, really good, washed well, plump and great flavour in the sauce. Beetroot and whipped feta - nice dish, bit annoying the candied walnuts were missed off, when queried a pot of plain walnuts arrived - nevermind. Finally we added parmesan and truffle chips - fairly good flavour but not much parmesan (struggled to find it tbh) plus they'd been sat on the pass for too long, so were just about warm.

All in all, bit...
