The Mess Room — Restaurant in Plymouth

Recommended by many. Had the mess big breakfast, was a 6/10, the eggs were a bit too greasy, the mushrooms tasted odd, bit earthy, and I prefer a Cumberland/herb sausage. Gf had Belgian waffles which were good. A choice of things to add to them would be great as she loves nutella, one of the waffles was sadly a bit burnt. No food check. Nice atmosphere, good tunes and staff were friendly. Been 3 or 4 times now and it's been really hit and miss which is such a shame as there doesn't seem to be continuity with the standard of pridpro like...

Our experience at the Mess Room was mixed. The positives were that the waitresses and waiters were very friendly, and very accommodating of my partner's requirements as a coeliac. The coffee was also very nice. The negatives were that service was quite slow (we got there at just after 9am on a Sunday so it wasn't exactly peak hours). Tucked away amidst the hustle and bustle of Yacht Haven Quay is this delightful little cafe/snack bar. Word of mouth led us here, and I'm happy to pass on this recommendation! Very handy if you need to collect a parcel from the Post Office depot just back up the road. Light and airy, nicely furnished and with good food and friendly staff, it made a nice break.
